It is time to get rid of my old PC and build a new one. Now I already know what parts I want and I do need some help with some guidelines.
PC Build Motherboard: Asus B150I Pro Gaming/WiFi/Aura Processor: Intel Core i5 6600K 3,5GHz Socket 1151 Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC Gaming ACX 3.0 HDMI 3xDP 8GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4 PC17000/2133MHz CL13 2x8GB Power Supply: Fractal Design Edison M 750W Liquid Cooling: Corsair Hydro H60 V2 Case: BitFenix Prodigy (Green/Black) Extras: BitFenix Spectre 230mm, Samsung SH-224FB
Now the questions I have are the following.
Is the power supply big enough or can it even be smaller? What manufacturer of graphics card / motherboard is good these days?
Why I want to use a mini ITX motherboard is simple. I want a small PC. I feel that the age of making HUGE desktop PC's are over and it is time for a new form factor that can give you almost the same preformance. I am not looking for a dual graphics card setup so mini ITX seems like a good choice in my own opinion.
But now I want your opinion, is there something I should change with the build or any other suggestions then please feel free and tell me.
I already have everything else I need but if you're curious to what else I use here it is! Monitor: Eizo Foris 2331 Keyboard: Corsair K70 Mouse: Logitech Protheus 502 Heaset: Logitech G35 (Going to get changed because gaming headsets are shit!)
About myself: Swedish gamer that love FPS and RTS games, I also prefer playing against other players and I am very competitive.
Thank you for reading my thread and helping me out! Peace!
PS if you wanna play some games then hit me up with a message on TekSyndicate.
Dont waste money on a K cpu part unless you use the Z170 chipset. The B150 mobo you chose cant overclock - so either change the board chipset type or change the cpu.
PSU wise you could use a 500w psu with that setup. 750w is overkill.
CPU cooler is a waste of money - again swap the mobo or cpu
1) Is the power supply big enough or can it even be smaller?
More than enough. I have a 700W PSU in my PC and it'll have similar hardware.
2) What manufacturer of graphics card / motherboard is good these days?
The only manufacturer I've found to be long-term reliable has been ASUS. All other brands have failed me in under 5 years in the past 20 years of building PCs... which is not to shill for ASUS. Just sharing my very-small-sample-sizes experience. Also reputable are Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, and EVGA. I'm probably leaving something out.
Same here.
There's a 700W PSU, an i5-3570K running at nearly 4.7 GHz (cooled by a push/pull, thick-rad AIO; Cooler Master Nepton 120 XL), 16 GB of DDR3-2400@CL10, a 4 TB SSHD, two 256 GB SSDs, and an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW packed into this teeny-tiny box-thing. I no longer see any reason to build a giant tower that I can't pack in duffel bag or a large backpack and take with me as my main PC.
Yeah I agree but all the other cases I have checked are either just a square box and I would like something with more style haha. I found the bitfenix to have decent size and good airflow and if I want to upgrade later I can do that easier since it fits fairly big graphics cards.
Z170 model of the motherboard I have now (ASUS's P8Z77-I/WD Deluxe): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132638 Bit pricy. There's a less expensive model that doesn't have all the ROG branding. Don't know what's up with the lower review score, though. Mine (the Z77 model) has been rock solid for years now.
Amazing build I am impressed. I have started to travel alot recently and that is one of the main reasons I want to have a small PC since then I can take the PC with me if I want to not only that it won't take up as much space in your room either.
Can you guys make any recommendations on the different manufacturers of graphics cards? I know I am going for a EVGA card but how is your user experience been with the other companies?
Got the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW in the mail several hours ago; heads up if you're considering a case as tiny as Silverstone's SG13... I had to fully disassemble my PC and remove the GPU's bracket (the bit that holds it in place and covers the expansion slots/output ports) and I scraped the hell out of the cooler's front side just to get it in place. No visible scratches, thank God.
