I'm looking to make a $500-$600 dollar gaming pc will need a OS. (I live in the US) Mainly for 1080p gaming on high settings.
I already have some parts which are:
NZXT H230 Mid Tower ATX Case
Corsair Vengeance 8gb 1600
ASUS VE247H 1920 X 1080P Monitor
Asus DVD Drive 24x
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler
TP-Link wireless pcie adapter
So i need CPU, GPU, Motherboard, PSU, Hard Drive, and Windows 8 for around $500-$600 dollars. (MAX like $650)
Also no need for Mouse/Keyboard
I was looking at the AMD FX-8320 since it drastically went down in price, so that would be the core of my build unless you guys can recommend something else
i tossed something together quickly, so (as always) theres probably room for improvement, but it can give an idea.

quick overview:
fx-8320 (as requested)
gigabyte motherboard -- i heard gigabyte amd boards are quite good.
sapphire r9270x -- should give you quite some performance
power supply seemed decent, and we're kinda on a budget
windows 8.1 (as requested)
the hard drive... well... i suggest buying a cheap one while you're on a budget, and replacing it with a better solution ASAP, but it'll get you started, and honestly, i personally had great luck with toshiba drives.
i came to this. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MXbN23
I know that a Z97 with a locked cpu, is a bit of a waste, however if you ever plan to upgrade to an unlocked broadwell i7, you are ready to go for that.
For an OS, Check this guy out.

This setup will perform better then a FX8320 in cpu bound games.
if you want it a bit cheaper? then you can allways grab a cheaper mobo like a H87/H97 B85 or H81 mobo.
Do you guys think a GTX 770 could fit in here, or is it kind of out of the question?
Bit too pricy. An R9 290 will be much stronger, though. I'd go with MisteryAngel's build.
Do you want to sli/crossfire in the future or no. If no we can get a 600 or 550 watt psu and save some more cash down the line for the graphics card.
I'm not looking to crossfire/sli i just want a single card.
and i found a 770 for $260 on newegg, or is the R9 290 still a better option
I dont really want to go intel, as of now i think AMD is the best option for me since im a student and wont have much money. Do you guys mind trying to make me a FX Build please/ty
ok so with your budget and your needs i picked this for you
I would go with amd over intel unless you are planing to go with an i7, but with your budget you will be limiting yourself gpu budget. with an amd cpu you can overclock. with an non-K/X intel part you have very limited over clocking options. I got my 8350 to 4.8 48hr stable but 4.6-4.7 is more likely. same with the k Intel parts.
"in cpu bound games" this comes up a lot but most new games will levrage multicore. and older games that are limited to only 1-2 cores will run fine with AMD. I would like you to look at this video if you have worries https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4et7kDGSRfc
also if you have any rendering projects, trans-coding to h.265, cad, Photoshop projects for school the fx 8xxx will out preform the i5 and will be closer to i7

And for the lols http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/
the 770 and 285 are neck and neck www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2014/09/02/crunching-the-numbers-new-amd-radeon-285-versus-nvidia-gtx-760/
Thanks a lot this suits exactly what i need. Now I have a clear path on what to build :D
An R9 290 IMO is a better option. As for an OS, run OpenSUSE with Xen for gaming. You'd save a pretty penny. An OC of 60-80mhz would put the Tri-X 290 on par, if not better than a 290x.
Sorry to bring this topic back up but, do you guys think that the FX-6350 is a good cpu seeing as it is $90 on amazon. So could i use the 6350 or just stick with the 8000 series.
