Gaming PC build (changing title, suggestion related)

another upvote to wait for zen, no point in building an AM3 build right now your budget is too high to even consider an AM3, honestly i bought my first AM3 rig for $603 in 2011 why on earth spend 1100 more then that almost 6 years later? i love my fx8120 to death and i wont retire her till she dies but no way would i pay retail for another FX chip

if your an AMD fanboy like me just wait for the next zen chip =)

the rx480 is faster and cheaper than the gtx970 also radion is owned by amd so thats another plus for yah!!

keep the psu if you want to have 2 gpus someday if you only ever see your self with 1 gpu then downgrade to the 650w

you most likely wont need the h110i with a zen or skylake so an air cooler will be fine

grab the evo instead of pro for ssd

rams good but 2133mhz is over kill for a gaming rig you could go 1300 or 1600 an save some money(theres no fps gain from your speed of ram unless your using an APU)

you wont need 4 fans unless your case comes with 0

and may i suggest a WD 3 4 or 5tb Red instead of the barracuda (yes overkill but if thats your only storage minds well keep it alive aye)

your build would have been good a few years ago but not anymore. PC building is in a weird spot until AMD launches a ddr4 platform

What I would build today if I had a $1700 budget.

Looks very good to me.

I am interested to know how much performance your getting from this cpu with an overclock, I have not yet overclocked mine but am thinking of doing so soon to around 4.5ghz ..

Thanks for the suggestion so i'm not sure if Zen will be out whrn i get the full amount so hear is a complete revamp of the build and title was changed.

Arctic MX4 > Arctic Silver 5.

I've made some tweaks to fit in a GTX 1070.

I like the tweaks, i put the 1000W power supply for an eventual 2 or 3 way sli/crossfire. Is the Vengeance better then the Ripjaw?

And an OC 8350 that costs more makes it even worse, for the same price, get an i5 or Zen.

The heatsinks on the Vengance LPX ram isn't as large as the one on the Ripjaws, which will help with the NH-D15's physical compatibility.

Well, it doesn't have an AMD SSD nor an AMD RAM stick (yes, AMD has those, but they aren't as good as say, Samsung's SSDs nor Corsair's RAM).

You guys are the greatest community that i have ever had the chance of being around. The suggestion are informative and insightful.

Question on the motherboard, i read that the Asus Z170 A os an up and comer so im not sure if to keep it in the build or maybe go for MSI or even Gigabyt

I got mine to 4.4 with 1.425 volts. My mb is a 970m pro3 with 4+1 power. Lasted about 3 min before all heck broke loose. After a few hours my computer started working again but acting weird. It would not downclock and was stuck at 3.5 till I cleared cmos.

The chip is willing but the motherboard is weak.

Oh well who wants a boring overclocking experience anyway:)

I would suggest waiting on Zen or Kabylake CPU's right now but if you are kinda desperate for a gaming build here is my take on it.
