Gaming PC around 800€ ($1000)

Hey,

my old PC is getting old and I'd like to build a new one :) It's mainly going to be a gaming-PC, but I also like to edit videos and above all do vector-Based image editing for which a good CPU would be an advantage. Here are the parts I've picked (Sorry for german website, it's the easiest way for me to show which parts I have in mind):

Intel Core i5-4670, 4x 3.40GHz, boxed (BX80646I54670)

G.Skill Sniper DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR3-1866, CL9-10-9-28 (F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR)

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3X OC, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort (GV-N770OC-2GD)

Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP

be quiet! Pure Power L8 500W ATX 2.4 (BN223)

I'm not sure if I should wait for entry level mainboards since I don't need a ton of features. I've picked the above MB, because I need at least 8 external USB-Ports.
I only have one 1080p 24" monitor, so I think a GTX 760 would be enough, but I've picked a GTX 770 because I want to keep the PC a little longer.
Would be nice if you could say your opinion on the other parts as well :)
I also would like an SSD (120GB, something like Kingston HyperX/SSDNow), but I don't know how to fit it into the budget...

Regards, Pp

well if you like to do video editing and stuf i would personaly recommend an i74770K, because the HT would be very handy for this.  if an i7 is to expensive, then maybe an AMD FX8350 would be a better bett, because of its 8 cores, its a little bit slower then the i7, but its alo alot cheaper, also cheaper then the i5,  but it will beat the i5 in editing.

Thanks for the answer :)

I do video editing only occasionally, but I do vector graphics regularly, so I'm more concerned about a powerful single thread. I can live with "slower" render times for videos, that's no problem for me.

well that be quiet psu you choosed is not great its multiple rail, better pickup a XFX 550W/650W or Lepa, did you check the alternate germany site? they have alot of choice in hardware. alternate.de

xfx, Lepa seasonic corair HX TX series are all good psu makes.

p.s no problem about your german site, im from the Netherlands german is no problem for me  haha

Oh wow I didn't notice it was a multi rail :o

This one looks promising: Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX 2.3 (CMPSU-500CXV2)

This one's a good alternative I think: Sea Sonic S12II-520Bronze 520W ATX 2.2

Well geizhals is a price check site, but alternate doesn't seem to be listed there...

Edit: Alternate is listed in Geizhals, just checked ;)

i think this would be a nice psu for you

http://www.alternate.de/LEPA/LEPA+B700-MAS,_Netzteil/html/product/1025573/?

i know 700W is away overkill but for €75 euro you can´t arguing  58A current on the single 12V rail. and modular. i would say pickup a psu that has at least 45A on the single 12V rail if you gonne use a GTX780.. Logan said that a GTX770 realy like a 42A psu for the whole system.

This looks like a solid PSU indeed and it would get me right in the sweet spot of 50% usage.

I'm not going to use a 780 that would be way overkill for my needs :) And it wouldn't fit into my budget anyway xD

Why are you getting a Z87 board when you can't do unlocked overclocking on your CPU? Maybe the RAM but it isn't the major factor here..

A 4670 is a good CPU either way and great for direct gaming.

As I said, I need 8 external USB-Ports and couldn't find a non Z87 board with 8 external USB-Ports. That's why I asked if I should wait for more entry-level MB's to come out.

well even if you have a cpu with a locked multiplier its still overclockable, if your mobo has the options for it,  i could only advice to pickup a Z87 mobo, because of your needs for 8 usb ports. the H87 boards are realy lack of feutures, because it does only what the chipset has to offer, btw i personaly allways recommend a Z87 board, because this chipset has just more to offer then H87.

I don't plan to overlock, that's why I picked a pre-overclocked GPU^^

Back to CPU, is the I5 better in one thread vs the AMD FX? Because I need a powerful single thread for vector based calculations. I derped when I said single rail xD

well if those calculations are just single threaded then the i5 will do the job just fine. intels per core performance is better then a AMD per core performance. but if you do more things at the same time then more cores can come handy, offcourse an i7 would be your best bett, but a FX8350 is also great. if you multitask alot, and doing more stuff at the same time, then the AMD FX8350 is a better performer. with other words how much workload you gonne trow at your cpu, if you do image editing, and next to that you game at the same thime, then a FX8350 of i7 would be better.

Nah I only do one thing at a time, sometimes two things, but that's it. It's quite rare that I do many things at the same time.

So an I5 is best for me if I understand you correctly.

Edit: Yep just one core is being used, just checked. While doing vector-stuff my 4-core only goes up to 25-28% usage.

I was looking for another PSU again and I think I found a pretty good one for 55€

EVGA 600B 600W ATX 2.3 (100-B1-0600-KR)

What do you think?

I'm also thinking about changing to this RAM since it supports XMP:

G.Skill Ares DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR3-1866, CL9-10-9-28 (F3-1866C9D-8GAB)

That looks like a good psu 80+ bronze and 49A on single 12V rail

G-skill ares ram is just fine.
