I currently have a mid-2012 macbook pro with a 2.9 GHz i7, 8GB 1600MHz RAM, 750GB hard drive. I have been trying to play some graphically intensive games on it but it wasnt performing very well so I wish to sell my macbook and upgrade to a gaming notebook. Although I have no idea what to be looking for in a gaming notebook. I built a gaming rig but I would like something that is portable and powerful for around the price I could sell my MacBook for.
ok, look at the new msi and asus gaming laptops. All of the reviews are great. And ive played around with a couple and they are fantastic!
Hey there Tanner, I'll suggests some laptops that I think are real nice
.

-This MSI gaming notebook has an HD 8970m, which should perform similar to an HD 7870 since it has 1280 stream processors. (Benchmarks: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-8970M.90656.0.html)
-Though the processor is an AMD A10 5750m @2.5 GHz. Seeing some benchmarks at notebookcheck.net and comparing to other intel processors, according to the benchmarks, this A10 should be around the same performance as an i5 3337u. That's according to the benchmarks, so I don't really know how they would perform in different games.

Here's another MSI gaming Notebook which has an i7 4700qm @2.4 GHz, which would most likely kick the A10's ass, though I'm not 100% sure about this so sorry if I'm wrong? But is has a GTX 770m (Benchmarks: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-770M.88995.0.html) which is close to the performance of the 8970m in some tests.
While writing this i noticed in the hd 8970m benchmark that in most games the A10 holds the GPU alot, so in my opinion, the second notebook i suggested you seems to be a great value. And the performance of the GTX 770m seems to be very close to the hd 8970m.
Btw, I only checked in newegg, so there may be better laptops out there.
If someone noticed I was wrong in something, please correct me, 'cause I do not own any of those laptops and I just did a little bit of research online. Hope this helps :)
