Gaming mouse, worth it?

So i'm wondering is a gaming mouse worth the money. In my mind normal mice (or mouses like I've heard when it comes to hardware) are just as good and i don't really need any extra buttons. I do play FPS games but is it a big advantage to have a gaming mouse. Also wired or wireless?

Always vouch for wired I don't think wireless mice will be a worthwhile investment until 2020. I personally like my MX-518, although it's certainly outdated by now. I think what I first noticed (apart from how big it is) was how my mouse movement felt substantially smoother compared to my older, cheap mice. The build itself feels solid, and I've grown to love using my thumb-buttons. It's really convenient, especially in some games but even for stuff like browsing.

love logitech mice, i got a G5 (2007 version) back when it came out....  been using it for 5 years :)

the extra buttons are nice, i mainly use them for PTT in voip programs / games... on the fly DPI switching is nice, especialy if your working in a photo editing program.

Well what do you guys think about gaming keyboards, also a good investment?

Gaming mouse is a must IMO, I got a steel series sensai and its so precise, it isnt just good for gaming but for general use aswell, I couldnt live without it.

A gaming keyboard on the other hand isnt as important, it is nice, but you can live without one perfectly, its not the same as a mouse because you dont have to physically controll it all the time

Mionix Naos 5000.

Yes you can get it in USA too.  Best mouse ever. Mine still as good as new, 2 years old

Regarding the advantage you gain from a gaming grade mouse, nothing to write home about. Pixel precision does feel naturally better to me and as mentioned the extra buttons come in handy somewhere down the road. The ergonomics alone might be worth the money if you game for extended periods of time.

As for gaming keyboards the initial releases were decent, macros and programmable keys were the only real function, asthetics were ...neat. However a modern mechanical keyboard is actually very nice, it actually feels like an upgrade and I consider it an investment because they will last so long, many feature laser etched keys so your WASD won't fade out from heavy use.

If you have the money and nothing better to put on your build I say dive in, you will enjoy it.

I would suggest the cyber snipa silencer gaming mouse, I do have it and it is really good to!

For a mouse, I would just try to find one that works for you. Some people like the way certain mice fit in one's hands better than others. For example, most people love the Deathadder, but I personally loath it because it doesn't fit my hand or grip well.

The other main issue is control over the mouse sensor, settings, as well as simply hacing a smoother, more precise mouse. All in all I think it's a worthy investment in many cases.

A XBox 360 controller with the pc reciever works like a charm

The mice are definitely worth it in my opinion. The accuracy, weight, and ergonomics are better than normal mice. I have a Logitech G5 (old copper one) and even thought its starting to crap out I will be buying another gaming mouse to replace it. DPI switching is convenient for games and photo editing. The extra buttons might seem useless at first but you can find soemthing to do with them. In Skryim I use it for shouts, in FPS's I use it for melee attacks. Find one that is comfortable for your hands and is affordable, you can't go wrong.

Wired or wireless. The gamer mentality says wired is the only way to go. I say NAY. Before I bought my first gaming mouse I beat Blackhawk Down and Doom 3 using a crappy HP wireless I picked up from Big Lots. The solution to keeping your mouse from dying in the middle of an important match/raid/dungeon is to keep your batteries fresh. Don't go a month without changing them and get pissed when it dies. I used rechargable batteries and had an extra set charged and ready just in case. It should never come down to that anyway. If you're doubting how much life the batteries have left, change them before you game and you're good to go. Elitists will argue about reponse time and reports per second but if you want the freedom of wireless then go for it.

Keyboards are worth it as well. They look better, most come with customizable macro keys, some are backlit, and they they build in extra features like disabling the windows key so you don't press it by accident. I don't know of any wireless gaming keyboards so that really isn't an issue. I guess it comes down to looks and feel for the most part. Everyone copies each other with the featuers so you can't go wrong.

I've been using a $7 Logitech (LX3) mouse that I got from Walmart for 4 years and I am plenty competitive when it comes to games. If you aren't having problems with your current mouse, there is no reason IMO to drop a lump sum of money on a new, fancier one.

Gaming mice are definitely worth it. I have a G9X, and I've been playing Diablo III without having to use the keyboard except for checking my inventory and skills menus, because the software allows me to setup different profiles for buttons and DPI. You also get on the fly DPI switching, which can come in handy for FPS games.

Gaming keyboards aren't really necessary. Most gaming keyboards on the market aren't really worth the money anyway. They might have a backlight and some extra keys that you can program, but they're nothing special. If you're looking for a new keyboard, I would stear you toward a mechanical keyboard because they just feel nicer for typing. If you game more than you type, I would suggest getting a mechanical keyboard with cherry mx black switches. If you type more then get cherry mx blue switches. If you do both pretty evenly, then you might want to get cherry mx brown or cherry mx clear. I've also heard that cherry mx red switches are extremely comfortable.

Definitely worth it; I even went out of my way to get me a mousepad from Roccat: The Roccat Taito. LOL

Keyboards, meh, I just got me a keyboard from A4Tech. It has a backlit LED's but hardly called, or marketted, as a gaming keyboard. Looks nice, get's the job done, and it is cheap. Can't ask for more.

And oh yeah, wired. Definitely wired.

I agree, a gaming mouse is worth it. But I've tried cheappy ebay "gaming" mice, and then a "quality" gaming mouse. Don't waste your money on something more expensive, my £7 Saitek mouse is as good as any. I always come out top in a multiplayer FPS (seriously!). The precision, grip and control is fantastic. I really do believe there's no need for an expensive one. Make sure it's wired, too.

People seem to be making a big fuss about wireless mice, but every wireless mouse I've used has worked flawlessly, with the exception of one. I had a cheap logitech wireless mouse that I used for a very long time. The only down side to that one was that you would have to change the batteries every so often. I moved on to the Microsoft Sidewinder X8 after that, which was an amazing mouse, but it died after only a few months. I don't know if it was just a bad mouse or if Microsoft just makes shitty mice. It worked fine before it crapped out on me, and it had a rechargable battery in it which could be charged using a magnetic USB cable. My brother also has the wireless version of the Razer Naga, and that works perfectly too. It also has a rechargable battery that is charged via USB, but it's not magnetic. He's had it since December, and it's been working great ever since.

I was a proffessional FPS player for half life 2 deathmatch. Wired g5 and wireless g5 both gave me the same outcome. I think wireless doesn't deserve it's rep.
