Gaming laptop help?

Hi!

I'm going to buy a new gaming laptop soon and my budget is around $1500. I need help deciding which to buy in terms of specs, build quality, and how future-proof it is. I prefer to have a 15.6 inch but I may buy a 17.3 if completely necessary. So far I have narrowed it down to these three options:

MSi GT60 (Nvidia GTX 770m)(A little worried about overheating) - http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=84160&vpn=9S7-16F411-003&manufacture=MSI&promoid=1035

Asus G750JW (More expensive than other two laptops) (Nvidia GTX 765m) - http://www.amazon.ca/G750JW-DB71-CA-17-3-Inch-Notebook-Processor-Windows/dp/B00DHPP35M

Alienware 17 (The one priced at $1499) (Nvidia GTX 765m) - http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-17/fs

Which is the best overall for build quality, specs, and upgradability, and just the best overall laptop? Please help me.

Also, if you have any other recommendations for gaming laptops that would be better than these ones and are around the $1500 dollar price range that is available in Canada, please comment on that as well.

Thanks!

The MSI actually has the best constructed heatsink out of the 3 it looks like.

I'd personally pick the MSI.

They are all different in their own way though. But the MSI seems better for gaming because of the good heatsinks, better LAN chip, better GPU, better GPU memory, and GPU enhancement features they built in.

First, the ROG laptop has Wireless AC. Super awesome, then Alienware has an IPS screen if you upgrade it, and the MSI has amazing audio. BUT, I think this one wins.

Also, I am in the same boat as you. I can't choose between the Alienware or ROG. The MSI runs hot and loud compared to the others.

Go the ASUS. That is all.

Alienare laptops are in the top 3, if not top one, of every best gaming laptop list online...

Yeah the it looks like I can run it hot a loud with the MSi that only had one fan to cool the CPU and GPU or I can get a weaker graphics card with the Alienware and Asus. I want the MSi for the smaller form factor (15") and better CPU and GPU, but I want the Alienware or Asus for the better cooling. I'm not sure.

For some reason gaming and laptop just dont go together. cant put my finger on it for some reason...

They have a temp review. Also it's easier to get a cooling pad than replace a gpu in a laptop*

*If the model doesn't have a bga socket.

I had an MSI laptop once and you could not open it up to replace RAM or HDD without voiding the warranty. Their customer support is terrible/non-existent so I would stay a long way away from MSI. Their products tend to be cheap which means they compromise on quality. You get what you pay for.

Yeah I might go for the stock Alienware 17, but the only problem is that it's 17 Inch so it's not portable (school) and that it has a gtx 765m rather than the gtx 770m in the MSi. Does anyone know of another good 15 inch gaming laptop within 200 dollars of 1500$ and that is available in Canada?

Anyone know if Sager is any good?

Yeah, a little uncommon though.

Sagers use clevos, which tend to be good but lack luster. They usually run hot and loud, have sub par audio all around. I say go with the Asus I linked if you want the bang for your buck. Well, if you can find it.

Yeah the only problem is that it is a 17 inch laptop so it's much too big for school. Anyone have any suggestions on a 15 inch haswell gaming laptops within $1500-$1700? (Not Lenovo)

Lenovo are very solid systems, but the MSI or Clevo is your only choices at the moment. I been looking around for the spec myself, and those are the only two out at the moment. 99% of the websites that build systems use those two. Sager, Digital storm, Origin, Ibuypower, CyerpowerPC. All MSI or Clevo. I say go with the msi, or a 14 in alienware with the upgraded screen and765m. It puts it on par with the MSI you looked at, but with a far better screen

Razer blade is a good option but its 1799 $

Specs are 1600x900 14 inch screen unibody syle like macbook pro. Also has 8 gigs of ram a quadcore haswell CPU 6 hours of normal task battery life, Nivida GTX 765M plus 128 gig SSD with higher priced options at 256 and 512.

Still haven't bought one yet, and now that the new nvidia 800m series is out, does anyone have any more suggestions? And also, does an ssd really make a difference all around? Still around $1500 range and 15 inch screen and available in Canada please
