I have been looking around for some new headphones to replace my current hd558. I have decided on 2 right now which are the ATH-900X and Philips X2. These headphones will be used for gaming, movies, and music. The types of music I currently listen to are rap, hip-hop, dub, edm, Electric swing, and alternative. The games it will be used for are comp games like CS:GO, Insurgency, and Squad, and for casual games Subnautica, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, The Long Dark, and Shovel Knight. I don’t know if listing all those games helps though. If you have any headphone recommendations please tell me but my budget is maxed at $280. Thanks for the help.
ATH-900X: If you like bass these are not the headphones for you. Aside from that, reviews point to them having good sound quality and
Phillips X2: Has good bass for an open set of headphones. Overall sound signature is great as well. Build quality is superb.
Alternatives may be Beyerdynamic DT990s, AKG K712, or Fostex T-whatevers MK3.
Aside from that, what's your current audio setup? Any amps/DACS? Straight onboard? Additional audio players?
