Gaming CPU

Before I say any thing I know there are lost of reviews out there and yes I have looked , however I wish to get a direct opinion. I am not sure if I should buy a AMD fx 6350 or go for a i5 CPU. I know the i5 is faster but I am looking for performance for now and in the future. The games I would like to play would be bf4, cod ghost, skyrim etc. The GPU is a nivida 660. I would also not like to oc if possible. Is it worth £80 more to get a i5 3570k or even a £50 for a i5 4570. Any help be appreciated.

A haswell i5 is much, much faster than any 63xx series CPU's so I would advise you to get that. Some say that processors with more than 4 cores are more futureproof, I also believe that but only when it comes to the 83xx/9xxx series fx CPU's. The 6350 will not bottleneck that gtx 660 but it will bottleneck a future card.

Yeah the i5 is definitely much better. I'm curious why you're comparing the FX 6350 ($140) to an i5 ($220) instead of comparing an FX 8320 which would actually give the i5 a run for its money at a better price. If you're comparing the FX 8320 or 8350, then it really depends on the games you play... but between those two the i5 hands down

OK so if I compare the i5 to the fx 8350 or 8320. Which would give me higher frames in games like skyrim and call of duty?

Depends on which i5 generation we are talking about, if it's ivy 3570k the 8350 it's faster in gaming, if it's 4670k the 8350 should about the same speed. But the question you should ask is which graphics card should I get because this cpu's (8350 & 4670k) have enough performance and are designed to run multiple graphics card at once, so they are way more advanced than the games we have right now.

Intel 4670k especially for demanding games that aren't made to utilize more than 3 cores(Skyrim, Indie games). If you plan to crossfire or sli the intel cpu is what you want.

It is up to you. i5 and 8300 series CPU's are so similar in performance, you basically buy for the features of the CPU and the Mobo. Do you want 8 cores for best performance in newer games or more powerful 4 cores for legacy games that cant use more than 4 cores. Honestly look for a mobo that has features you want and then chose the CPU around that. 8350 or 4670, 9590 or 4770. (Though there is a performance gap there) It really does not atter what you pick aslong as you are happy with the price, performance and features.

Thanks for the feedback
