Gaming Build

Hello,

I'm going to be doing my first computer build, and I just wanted to know what you guys thought of this build.

awesome build it will run well

Everything looks fine to me, except the video card. I'd suggest you get this one instead.

With the rebate, the card only costs an extra 10$, and far outperforms the 650 ti. Not to mention overclocked it will have performance near a 7950.

They updated lots of these products today with better deals for black friday. I just ordered a full build and I got lots of the same parts you did but got some extra deals on them, make sure you get them. I got the same mobo today on newegg with my build and it came with a 40$ Ripjaws X series 8 gigs of 1600 DDR3 ram kit

make sure you get it to save youself 40$

Also, your CPU comes with a coupon for a 25$ gift card. Just make sure to go back and readd each of these items to your shopping cart, not from your wishlist, because lots of them have been updated.

Here is my reciept (Couldn't make my wishlist work...wtf?) This also comes with 20$ worth of rebates. Also paired my CPU with the 20$ CPU cooler and got 20$ off...so it was free...I don't know why that doesn't automatically come bundled, i just stumbled on that deal somewhere.

Hmm... I can't find that combo... Must be because I'm Canadian. XD

Also, for the video card, I don't really like rebates just because I'll usually throw something out or they won't deliver on it. And if I did go that high I would probably just get a 660. Which I am thinking about.

Swap out that overpriced 650 Ti for a 7850. Or better yet, a 7870, which is only a few couple bucks more. Great cards, with the latter,s performance kissing the heels of the more expensive 7950 and 670.

I believe that HDD is a little overpriced. Check out DirectCanada and/or PCPartpicker for better deals.

Lastly, what are you using this for, and what is your maximum and prefered budget?

Right. Forgot that. My budget would preferably be 900$. And it will be for gaming.

When do you plan on purchasing?

I would probably buy some parts now and then the rest around Christmas time.

No one?

Preferably $900? So you can go over that? Then why the hell did you choose a 650?( Not mad)

I suggest this for gaming http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/p8Eg

Great for everything else too. If you can, you can add $30 to it to buy a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, and oc it for more performance.

If you really want an i5, you have to drop either the R4 or the 7970( if your gonna change the case and keep the card, then get something like a Zalman Z11, because it can fit the huge card. It's actually pretty good, lots of positive reviews. A CM Haf 912 can fit it, but you have to remove the modular drive bay).

You can also fit a 1TB drive in the build, but you have to drop either  the  case or card.

Wow! That build actually looks really good. I don't know that much about AMD processors, but I was under the impression they weren't very good for any build over 750. Guess not! If I wanted to step down the money a bit, would you suggest downgrading the video card to what? That would be insane bragging rights about that card, but I may need to save some money.

So you're set on the R4? Because you can save around $50 if you buy a Zalman Z11 or Half 912 instead, so you can buy the card. Or save around $35 for these awesome cases http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139018 or http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11180AC3384&vpn=CC-9011014-WW&manufacture=CORSAIR .

If you really want the R4, a 7950 will be just fine. http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/asus-video-card-hd7950dc23gd5 http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/xfx-video-card-fx795atdbc http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr795wf33gd http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/powercolor-video-card-ax79503gbd52dhpp or http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/msi-video-card-r7950twinfrozr3gd5oc .

I like those corsair cases. I think I'll do that and keep the 7970. I imagine with a card like that I'll be playing every gAme on ultra?

And is XFX a reliable brand of PSU? I have not heard of them before, so I am a bit skeptical.

SeaSonic makes the best PSUs, and XFX basically puts SeaSonic parts in a different housing and calls them their own, so yeah, they're reliable. With that PSU, you could probably Crossfire two 7970s.

And yes, you'll be able to max out games with the 7970 for a long time.

Awesome thanks for your help.

No problem.

Oh, and with the mobo I chose, the option to upgrade to at least two more generation of AMD CPUs will be open

dont do what z said go with the intel cor i5 3570k and than go with the asus p8z77-v lk and for the graphics card go with a gtx 660 or the gtx 660ti
