Gaming and Video Rendering PC Build

Here is my build for a gaming and potentially rendering or streaming PC.

I am on a budget but this build turned out to be quite a lot cheaper than i expected so I do have some money left over for upgrades so feel free to comment and help me.

This is my first build and being 17 spending 800 pounds/ $1000 for you in the states is quite a big enterprise so all advice will be appreciated:

Processor: fx6300 black edition

Mobo: Gigabyte 970a-UD3P

GPU: Gigabyte AMD R7970

RAM: HyperX Beast 8gb 1600MHz

Storage: WD 2Tb 6Gbps SATA III

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB

PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500 watts atx/eps.

Case: Corsair CC-9011050-WW Carbide series

Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM 24"

Cheers for any advice.

This should perform a little bit better than what you previously selected. The 280x is basically a rebadged 7970, but it has a higher clock speed.

Cheers for the response, could you explain why you recommended the MSI 990FXA-GD65 ATX AM3+Patriot Viper and SeaSonic S12II 620W over my choices, and thanks for the GPU tip ill most probably will be picking up the 280x

Cheers for your advice, i havent got the budget for a £360 gpu sadly, but the motherboard and ssd are interesting products,

So right now this is what my build looks like, decided to change upgrade my Mobo, GPU, CPU and PSU but im keeping the samsung ssd as it seems to be much better then the kingston and im willing to pay the £10 higher price

I apologize for the late reply. Anyway, I'll just do a quick rundown.

MSI Motherboard - I wanted to put in a cheaper motherboard to keep it under budget, but I still needed one with a good power phase for the FX-8320. The MSI has a 8+2 power phase, which will be capable of powering the 8-core.

Patriot Viper - Basically just since it's the cheapest DDR3 - 1600 Cas 9 in a 2x4 GB configuration. I'd prefer to get a different brand, like Crucial, Corsair, or G.Skill, but they're all more expensive.

Seasonic Power Supply - Seasonic basically makes the best power supplies. It is a little bit overkill since you definitely could get away with 500w, but it would be a higher quality unit than the Corsair you picked out (although Corsair is still very good - if there's a significant price difference I'd stick with the cheaper one).

Basically, it all comes down to me wanting to fit the 280x and FX-8320 into an 800 pound build. I had to cut corners in various places - including, as I'm sure you noticed, the 1 TB hard drive instead of the 2 TB one.

Looks pretty good.

Thank you that explains a lot, cheers for going into so much detail, one question would you recommend your MSI board over the slightly more expensive gigabyte board. Cheers for a reply.

Cheers! the fact you didnt make any remarks actually makes me very happy:)

Just a heads up on the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P:

It uses a digital 8+2 power phase design, even though it uses the 970 chipset.  It can power a 8 core CPU.  If the OP doesn't need the extra features of the 990fx chipset, he can stick with this cheaper motherboard.

I agree with you on the RAM.

I also agree on the power supply.

Cheers, but howcome the MSI Board which is a 990fx is cheaper than the gigabyte which is a 970fx?

Hmm, you should upgrade in the future to get 16 gb of RAM, you might not do well with 8 gb for video rendering

I think the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P is cheaper

I tried to rebuild your choices on PCpartpicker and I came up with this

Just to be clear. are these all things you intend to buy? or do you have them already and you want to upgrade? Also, What is your maximum budget?

This gives you a lot more power for 910 pounds. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3B58T

If you are an AMD fan, here is an AMD option, but its not as powerful:

This is 904 pounds and has a AMD 8350, and an AMD 290. This graphics is actually a little better than the GTX 770.

Cheers, this gives me more options for the rig , especially in the Intel direction

Hm my bad then I must have switched their prices in my head

If your budget is 1000 pounds, then you might consider something like this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3BdE4

It has the GTX 780 which is quite a bit better than the 770.. not that the 770 is bad. It all really depends on your budget.
