Disputing whether to buy i5 3570k or i7 3770k for this reason.
They're both quad core CPU's. The 3770k is just multithreaded.
The real question is do i get a 8core cpu as the nextgen consoles will be 8core optimised
You may as well. They're cheaper and, like you said, are more likely to be future proofed.
guess its now between the AMD 8350 and 3770k then :P
Well unless you're going to be doing heavy editing, go for the 8350.
i personally am going to wait for steamroller before i make a cpu upgrade
Mainly just going to be playing games really :P
Ive heard about steamroller and that its "apparently" going to bring AMD back into the fight, I might do the same, and just spend my money on a new GPU
Not hating on AMD but they said that about bulldozer.
Yer i know, thats why im waiting to see how it plays out for them, if the CPU delivers well enough then i might have to invest.
Yes and i am seriously thinking about puting a phenom ii x4 965 back in my computer becase i am not likeing the FX 6100 i have at the moment :/
I have a 4170, and its ok but ive been thinking about upgrading for a couple of months but been stuck between upgrading CPU or GPU
The phenom is better in every single way...
AMD is in the fight, but not for the enthusiast level. The 2011 CPUs and X79 chipset are much more powerful than any consumer-level AMD CPUs. The 8350 is a cheaper alternative to the 3770k, in most situations. The AM3+ socket allows for a highly likely upgrade path, but 1155 doesn't. I went with a 3770k, and for both editing and gaming, it is fantastic, but I really only got it because of an impulse buy (as with the rest of my current system). The 8350 is going to be aggregately cheaper, when accounting for the motherboard. Even the ROG (Republic of Gamers) boards that Asus has are cheaper for AM3+, compared to 1155, and especially 2011. But, for multi-GPU systems, or photo/video-editing rigs, socket 1155 or 2011 is necesssary for the best performance. AM3+ CPUs will present a bottleneck with multiple GPUs, especially for high-end ones, such as the 7970, 680, Titan, etc. in SLI/CF. If you are only getting one graphics card, and will only be running 32 or less GB of memory, then AM3+ is the better choice. If you need multi-GPU performance, but are on more of a budget, a 3770k for 1155, or 3820 for 2011 is a great choice. If you want the best performance for everything, then a 3930k, or 3960X on socket 2011 is ideal. Get what you can afford without cutting into the rest of the build.
I had a phenom ii x4 965 with a hd 7950 and it was a great experience for gameing
But i gave that rig to my dad when his old computer died as it wasent worth me fixing it for him
At the moment iam stuck with a 1/2 bilt computer ive got a FX6100 in here and a HD 5450 i had liying around just to get the computer up and running and my old chip i have to say was better
Get the i5-3570(K). It's a powerhouse. At the current rate of technological advancement, the 3570 will handle any game within a half decade from now.
We Semi-enthusiasts have had high-end Quadcore CPUs since Q1 2007.
Seriously, who stopped time?!
