Ive played xbox a long time and recently built my own computer. Looking for some good games. My favorite games are bf3, fallouts, skyrim.. anything would be good.
Some great free to play games are Planetside 2, Blacklight: Retribution, Tribes Ascend, and Team Fortress 2
Try out Planetside 2, the learning curve is steep, but it's worth it. Tribes: Ascend is also great. Frozen synapse is one of my favorite indie games. It's worth re-buying skyrim on the PC for mods, though I would wait untill the edition that comes with all of the DLC is released. Try out FTL if your into rougelikes. Also, don't forget to try out the classics like Halflife 1+2, doom, deus ex, and Planescape: torment. Also, though not strictly related to gaming, if you are looking for somthing to do, try installing Linux, some distros like Peppermint and Elementary are so fast that comparing them to windows is like compering aEscalade to a Lamborghini.
Warthunder is one I can suggest off the top of my head, currently in open beta, WW2 vehicular combat game, more on the reaslistic side but very fun in all realism modes. Graphics are fantastic, free to play, all that jazz.
I would avoid World of Tanks or anything run by Wargaming.net...it's fun at first but their bad decision making, programing, and game design becomes more evident the longer you play to the point you quit from frustration....fun on occasion but bad enough you can't play them continuously.
As armypig suggested, FTL, indie games of all sorts. You can find plenty of older, good games on Steam or GOG if you can look past graphics for gameplay or story.
alright cool. I also have heard about metro 2033. is that any good?
I've been having a lot of fun playing Firefall. It's still in closed beta but you can get a key off their forums pretty easily.
metro is a brilliant game, just don't expect to max the specs unless you really over spent on your pc, also borderlands is brilliant
If you're not looking to spend lots of cash, just open up Steam and check the Free-To-Play games for starters. There are some good games in there.
Planetside 2 is a great massive online shooter. If you prefer smaller matches than i recommend Team Fortress 2 and Tribes: Ascend, they are both classics.
Lord of the Rings Online is one of my favorite fantasy MMO's.
World of Tanks is a tank arena game, it's pretty fun.
Check https://indiegamestand.com/ for cheap indie games, I got Guns of Icarus Online there yesterday for $5. You can't get that anymore, but they have some other game for cheap. https://www.humblebundle.com/ also often has PC games for donation.
Metro is a stellar game, if you can find a deal on it, go for it! As long as your system meets the specs. If you're concerned at all about your system running a particular game and aren't comfortable with all the vocabulary, then http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri is a cool place to go to see if you can run a game.
Skyrim with mods! It's seriously worth buying Skyrim again just for the mods. It's a very mod-friendly game, meaning there are a ton of mods, it's easy to install mods, and the aren't many mod conflicts.
I've just started playing New Vegas again. It's not as mod friendly as Skyrim, but there's a shitload of mods for it as well. Had it for 360, but I just bought the Ultimate edition on Steam for $20.
Guild Wars 2 is a great MMORPG. Looks great, massive map, tons of weapons and customization, and dynamic quests. It's slow to start, but a great game nonetheless.
Metro 2033 is overrated. It's one of those graphics-over-gameplay games. The graphics are very nice but the actual gameplay is just an average fps. Storywise it's just another post-apocalyptic drivel.
Torchlight 2 is very similar to Diablo games. The gameplay is pretty fun, though the story is very generic. It's only like $15 on Steam now.
Some strategy games, if you're into that. Civilization 5 - turn-based strategy, fun and laid-back. Anno 2070 - kind of a cross between a city-building game and a managment strategy. Though, it does have some dickish DRM.
what are your specs?
