Ga-990xa-ud3 problem, need help

Basically I've already written a post on Reddit about my issue that my mobo is not powering up at all (no fans no sound no movement) i have set it out on a cardboard box and just nothing is working.

need help to see what the issue is :'(((

Is it new?Have you used an 8 core or overclocked 6core on it? What rev is is?If it's rev 3 I think it just kicked the bucket lol,if it's rev 4 something is weird,I have the motherboard rev 4,running an overclocked 8core on it and it's rock solid

He's talking about this board: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4434#ov

not yours: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4672#ov

I'm pretty sure I know my motherboard and I have the XA as well not the FXA.

this one actually http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3901#ov

So it's rev 1? Well...what cpu did you have on it?

AMD Phenom II X4 850 Quad Core AM3 3.3GHz

bump...not sure if that even works... just felt like doing it

Well,I don't really know what to say,I'm not so good when it comes to motherboards,I do have to admit that, maybe it's just dead or something happened to one of the mosfters,or vrms, god knows what..

i sent it back for RMA and they said it worked fine with fully located RAM unless theyre bs'ing me

Try jumping your power supply and see if your power supply is bad (use the single jump method and make sure everything is disconnected)

Phenom cpu should work out of the box.

Did you connect the 8 pin cpu power connector, the right way in? on some motherboards you can connect it the wrong way in, with a littlebit of force. If you know for sure that every power connector is connected the right way, But fans are not spinning at all.. then check if there is maybe a clear cmos jumper, who is sitting in the wrong direction. in order to boot, the clear cmos jumper should be in off mode.

If still nothing happens, then it would be most likely a dead mobo.

i have already jumped it and the psu turned on perfectly.

ill try pushing the 8 pin connector in ant cables a bit more again even though i have done this multiple times.and i have no clue what your talking about cmos

i also see that your motherboard has a dual bios, so there should also be a dual bios switch or jumper. near the southbridge heatsink somewhere that area. most likely, you will find the cmos reset jumper there as well. if it is a bios switch, then you could try the second bios.

You can find the cmos reset jumper in your manual.

Look at page 22, its just above the USB 3.0 header. also look at page 29 and 30.

The jumper should be open!!!

what if i dont have a jumper :S

and do you just want me to clear the cmos?

If there is no jumper applied on the header, so you only see 2 pins, then it means that the clear cmos is open, normal mode.

Then you most likely have a doa motherboard. Then just send it back and get a new one.

yeah i only see the 2 pins next to the CLR_CMOS

i contacted Overclockers UK and they said they would test it and send it to Gigabyte if a fault is found, just scared they won't find anything again and just send it back with me paying a fee

The reason why i think that its an doa board cause the fans are not spinning.

You said you tested the psu it self, you checked all the power cord´s and front panel connection. The clear cmos jumper is in normal mode. so it seem to be abvious that the board is dead.

If it was a diffrent defective part, then at least the cpu fan should spin up.

I have dealt with their returns and they are great. we had a failing GPU and the problem was only intermittent. They still replaced it with just the price of postage in the difference. Great service you should be fine.
