Fx8150 or Athlon x3 Server ideas?

Hey guys.

When I get my Z87 board from Logan, Im going to be using one of my previous builds (Either an FX 8150 build, or an older Athlon x3 build) For a basic server-type build.  Probably for hosting a most likely non-popular website. (Not very good at making them)

So, what Im asking, is which build would be better for a server/would it matter, and what platform would be best?

Would something like windows server handle the 8-core better than linux or apache would? Or would linux be the best route for a server?

What are your opinions on this?

I would vow for the 8150. More cored will help in the long run. You can install apache within linux. So go linux

Like skullabyss said go with the 8150 more core is always better especially if you want to host a minecraft server or something.  turn your athlon x3 into a media pc or a router.

Windows server would do fine on the 8150.  If you are a student and can get a copy of windows server 2008 r2 or 2012 for free I would suggest that.  They are easy to set up and a good starting place for managing a server. Windows Home server is kind of a joke. If you can't server 2008 r2 or 2012 go with linux. Linux server is pretty easy to setup if you are fimiliar with linux.
