I have a bit of a dilemma. I am not sure whether to get an FX processor and get a dGPU or an APU and get one of the recommended dGPUs for a Crossfire configuration. If I were to go with the APU, would I be able to get, lets say a 7870, and still be able to take advantage of the Crossfire feature on the APU? Or would the performance gains using a recommended dGPU with the APU outweigh the need for a 7870?
It all depends on the budget
you would crossfire the apu with a 6670,
if you got an a10 and a 7870 the a10 would act like a fx4300 and the 7870 would be working alone, defeating the perpose of an apu
if you can afford a fx and gpu it's a much better idea, only go with an apu if it's all you can afford
I'd personally crank it all the way to 11.... basically discrete graphics card and FX chip...
Depends on your budget. If you are just going to do modest gaming or you don't have much money, I'd go for the apu. Now if you're wanting to do some serious gaming like very high detail and high frames, then I'd get an FX and a much higher end card.
Isn't the fx 6300 cheap enough? Otherwise if you can only afford an APU build go with it.
fx
i would go with a FX cpu and dedicated gpu, ofc depending on your budget. but for example
FX6300 Asus M5A97 R2.0 mobo sapphire Radeon 7870XT.
Okay. I think I will just go with the FX. I thought that the APU might have similar performance to the FX because it (will) uses Steamroller(I dont know much about Steamroller to be honest). On a side note, can anybody think of some red colored mother boards for AMD? The ones that I have found are discontinued.
The APU is a cut down FX chip the APUs have no level 3 cache to make space for the enbeded hd6670 equivalent video card on the chip there good if all you what to use is the intergrated video outherwise a FX6300 is going to be a better pick for a dedicated video card.
Steamroller whont be atleast antill next year
