FX-9370 Issue

I have installed a AMD FX-9370 into my GA-990FXA-UD5 motherboard and it is running at 3.8 GHz instead of 4.4 GHz. I was wondering if this could be fixed with a bios update or adjusting other settings within the bios or is it because of the motherboards model?

Any help is much appreciated, as I am newish to the PC building world.

Cheers Mates.

What are you cooling it with? If it's running too hot I'm sure it'll throttle?

You will be needing the newest bios for that cpu...FX-9370/FX-9590 bios vershon needed FCb (GA-990FXA-UD5  REV 3) GA-990FXA-UD5 REV 1 dosent at this time have that cpu in the support list.

If you can't get a bios update that sorts it out you can probably just change the multiplier and set the clock to 4.4 manually.

Ok then thanks for the quick responses, I have liquid cooling installed so the temp is no issue. I have heard that updating the bios with an unsupported CPU can cause issues, would this be the case in my situation or would it run smoothly if I updated the bios. Also while updating the bios is there anything I should be aware of?

Cheers,

When you update the bios it will set everything to defults so you will need to reset up your sata drives ect anything you changed.

Allso DONT let the computer lose power when flashing the bios or it will be a dead motherboard.

Ok then, no worries. So there will be no issue having the FX CPU instead of the previous CPU when updating the bios.

Cheers again,
