Listen,
I got a fx 8350 with a 7970
SIDENOTE:
i even have it in crossfire and it scales pretty nice. Yes I'm crazy. Shoot me!!!!!!!
Look, if I put all the filters at max, the cpu DOES NOT BOTTLENECK. How do I know this?
GPU usage is two times 99%. I know the cpu is the bottleneck when I do not do this.
But when, unlike normal systems, the GPU is not really the bottleneck, you can go rampage on the filters and get away with it. I get away with it with a smooth framerate.
Now, when i look at posted benchmarks all over the world, i end up WITH THE SAME FRAMERATES. especially with eyefinity and high filter settings, then I even get higher sometimes if the game likes cores.
IMPORTANT NOTE: every benchmark of GPU's on this very planet is always done with an intel processor.
IMPORTANT CONCLUSION: If intel is the benchmark-cpu to go with, will someone please explain me why I generally have the same framerates as all those benchmarks?
My friends and the internet have accused me of madness why i put 7970 in xfire with an 8350.
However, when i put fulters at msaa x8, and divert stress to the GPU's, I see alot of jawdropping around me.
Now after you read all this, imagine all that, while I tell you how much I payed for all that hardware. I think I saved tons of money. I just have to tweak the filters a little to take full advantage of the GPU's and the CPU, and I'm good to go.
Don't get me wrong, with the xfire set up there is a CPU bottleneck in some games. but with tweaking and actually accepting this fact, the "damage" is alot lower than most people actually realise.
In optimised games like crysis3 and bf3, I can make the CPU bottleneck completely disappear. You have my word for this.
