I have a simple question, which CPU would be best for a strictly gaming build? I'm working on building a new rig around either one of the listed AMD CPUs. I'm going to be pairing the CPU with either a Sapphire or PowerColor 7870 Tahiti LE. I can get an 8350 for about $179 right now, or $130 for a 6300. The difference in cost doesn't concern me much. Sorry to ramble, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
If cost is not an issue, go with an 8350. As for the 7870, why not go with a XFX black edition? Lifetime warranty and I believe it is the best (or one of the best) you can get for a 7870.
Don't go for the 7870 xfx just for the lifetime waranty. The 7870 xt is way better cause of the newer chipset. If u can get the club 3d joker card, get it.
Thanks for all the responses! However theres a bit of a wrench in the plans. I had to trim some things down. I ended up buying a Phenom II x4 965 BE for 84.99 with free shipping. I know these processors are still more than capable. Any thoughts?
This dumb shit again with the Tahiti Le not being better than the original 7870? Fucks sake.
A 7870 TAHITI LE HAS THE PROCESSOR OF A 7950, AND THUS HAS MORE STREAM PROCESSORS THAN A 7870. Don't say "oh u only gain liek 2 ef pee es" if you haven't benched it yourself. Clock speed does not determine how godly a card is, and overclocking is always an option with a good card (aka good cooling).
A stock 7870XT does not perform the same or better then a 7950 on stock.
if you want the XT perform the same, or better, then you need to overclock the card.
then i might be true, wenn you oc the hell out of that thing, that it performs equal or maybe a bit better then a stock 7950, but if you gonne oc the 7950, it blows away that joker card ☻
if you want equal performance out of a 7870XT to a 7950 on stock, then you need to oc the hell out of that XT
thats my point ☻
and wenn you put that back to price to performance, then its the question if it worth it.
but hey they are great cards. i never said that. (shaphires)
It is quite hilarious since this is not a thing that requires debating, all of the reviews say its so, but only MisteryAngel thinks (if ever) different. No matter how much evidence is in her disposal she just can figure it out...
Dont know, might one of those days in the month, ;)
You must have not read anything in your life, man i fell sorry for you.
Of course I read benchmarks thats what they are for, and if you bother your brain and see the 7870xt and 7950 specs you will se there is difference (but will you understand?). 7870. has higher gpu and memory clocks which has annulled the difference between 7950 (stock) and 7870xt.
Since 7950 got its boost, it has gained the performance of 670gtx (if not better), which meant that there AMD had no match for 660Ti, and with 7870xt release that hole has been covered
Miskonius, would you please stop making yourself seem like the athority figure here, regardless of who here is right? Posts like yours, calling people out in a negative way, is just giving people more reason not to join, or ask for help. This is supposed to be an accepting community, not a place to call people idiots like people do with the stupid console wars.
