FX 6300 or FX 8350

Hello Everyone,

I have a simple question, which CPU would be best for a strictly gaming build? I'm working on building a new rig around either one of the listed AMD CPUs. I'm going to be pairing the CPU with either a Sapphire or PowerColor 7870 Tahiti LE. I can get an 8350 for about $179 right now, or $130 for a 6300. The difference in cost doesn't concern me much. Sorry to ramble, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

fx 8350

leave the sli/cf shenanigans, buy the best single gpu card you can afford

Thanks I fully intend to use a single GPU sorry if my post may have been unclear.

If cost is not an issue, go with an 8350. As for the 7870, why not go with a XFX black edition? Lifetime warranty and I believe it is the best (or one of the best) you can get for a 7870.

I honestly had no idea, I just started looking at parts. Thanks!

Don't go for the 7870 xfx just for the lifetime waranty. The 7870 xt is way better cause of the newer chipset. If u can get the club 3d joker card, get it.

Here some benchmark:

XFX BENCHMARK: http://be.hardware.info/productinfo/148837/xfx-radeon-hd-7870-double-dissipation-black-edition#tab:testresultaten

3D JOKERCARD BENCHMARK: http://be.hardware.info/productinfo/166808/club-3d-radeon-hd-7870-xt-jokercard-2gb#tab:testresultaten

EDIT: also note that the xfx black runs at 1005 Mhz and the joker card only at 925 so u can still overclock it.

The only reason to choose the 6300 over the 8350 is cost, so as long as that doesn't bother you, go with the 8350 of course.

Thanks for all the responses! However theres a bit of a wrench in the plans. I had to trim some things down. I ended up buying a Phenom II x4 965 BE for 84.99 with free shipping. I know these processors are still more than capable. Any thoughts?

This dumb shit again with the Tahiti Le not being better than the original 7870? Fucks sake.

A 7870 TAHITI LE HAS THE PROCESSOR OF A 7950, AND THUS HAS MORE STREAM PROCESSORS THAN A 7870. Don't say "oh u only gain liek 2 ef pee es" if you haven't benched it yourself. Clock speed does not determine how godly a card is, and overclocking is always an option with a good card (aka good cooling).

Can we drop this shit now? 7870 XT > 7870

We all did already. He bought his system. Its you whos talking about it ^^

You deleted your original post. Don't act like a 12 year old.  You're starting to piss me off.

And you must learn to read over your posts. Your grammar skills make me cringe.

Girly I have shown you do benchmarks where 7870xt performes the same or even better than 7950 at stock.

What is your problem?

7870xt obviously cant OC like 7950, but his is not the point here...

My point is that you gave wrong information.

A stock 7870XT does not perform the same or better then a 7950 on stock.

if you want the XT perform the same, or better, then you need to overclock the card.

then i might be true, wenn you oc the hell out of that thing, that it performs equal or maybe a bit better then a stock 7950, but if you gonne oc the 7950, it blows away that joker card ☻

if you want equal performance out of a 7870XT to a 7950 on stock, then you need to oc the hell out of that XT

thats my point ☻

and wenn you put that back to price to performance, then its the question if it worth it.

but hey they are great cards. i never said that.  (shaphires)

Did you look at the Benchmarks or are you just playing stupid?

i dont need to look at those benches, if i only look to the hardware specs, thats allready telling me enough. ☻

th 7870xt might be close to a 7950 but deffanetly not  equal or better then a 7950 on stock speeds.  just facs.

and thats the last reaction i write down here about it, cause its pointless.

i delete the rest of those pointless posts cause ts allready bought his setup, and i hope hes realy enjoying it :D

I LOVE watching card benchmark debates like these xD Gives me many genuine LOLz.

It is quite hilarious since this is not a thing that requires debating, all of the reviews say its so, but only MisteryAngel thinks (if ever) different. No matter how much evidence is in her disposal she just can figure it out...

Dont know, might one of those days in the month, ;)

You seem like the type of person who reads a bunch of synthetic benchmarks and then tries to act intelligent because of it.

You must have not read anything in your life, man i fell sorry for you.

Of course I read benchmarks thats what they are for, and if you bother your brain and see the 7870xt and 7950 specs you will se there is difference (but will you understand?). 7870. has higher gpu and memory clocks which has annulled the difference between 7950 (stock) and 7870xt.

Since 7950 got its boost, it has gained the performance of 670gtx (if not better), which meant that there AMD had no match for 660Ti, and with 7870xt release that hole has been covered

Miskonius, would you please stop making yourself seem like the athority figure here, regardless of who here is right? Posts like yours, calling people out in a negative way, is just giving people more reason not to join, or ask for help. This is supposed to be an accepting community, not a place to call people idiots like people do with the stupid console wars.

PLEASE stop. This is making me sick.
