FX-6300 or FX-6350?

What's up people? I just have a quick question because I have been second guessing myself about the CPU I want. Currently, I have been contemplating getting the FX6350 because it isn't much more than the 6300 and it is binned slightly higher. But, I am extremely cautious when it comes to spending a lot of money. I like the Microcenter deals with these two CPUs but I am just not sure. What do you guys think?

Sincerely,

-The New Guy

FX-6300 its cheaper: They are both vishera chips and you can easily achieve the same overclock as the 6350 using the stock cooler http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/302/AMD_FX-Series_FX-6300_vs_AMD_FX-Series_FX-6350.html

Depends on the motherboard. If your running anything not on 990fx or 990x than go 6300. 99% of boards that aren't 990fx or 990x are not comfortable with the 125watt tdp of the 6350. If you running a Asus 970 evo (not even sold new in US anymore) than go 6350. Otherwise 6300.

I believe you have seen this build before, Caveman.

I don't plan on overclocking anytime soon. As you can see, I currently have a Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. I specifically remember you telling me not to get the MSI 970A-G46 AM3+ mobo too, Caveman. (Sorry, that was anecdotal). Spring break hasn't been too kind to me by giving me all this time to ponder about my decisions. Is it worth getting the 6350 since I am not going to be overclocking any time soon or is that thought somewhat misguided?

Save alittle more $.

Get the 8320, you wont regret that decision :).

the 970chipset would be able to handle 8320 (just check the mobos cpu support list), because im using a 8320 with an asrock 970 pro3 rev2.

If youre really tight on funds a 6300/6350 would be fine.

The FX 6350 isn't really worth spending more on, IMHO. It's the same chip, just one that's binned slightly better and will typically be able to reach higher clocks without as much voltage as the 6300 would to reach them. What motherboard were you considering getting? Because if you're getting a 970 motherboard, you'll reach the board's limit with either the 6300 or the 6350 before reaching the chip's limit most likely, so you wouldn't see the benefit of the 6350 over the 6300.

I'd recommend getting the 8320 over the 6350, it will be significantly better in multi-threaded applications while being marginally behind in single-threaded (4GHz turbo on the 8320). If you're on a really tight budget, get the 6300. If you're not on much of a budget, get the 8320. If you can spare a couple extra bucks for the 6350 but can't stretch for the 8320, then I guess it couldn't hurt, but then you might be better off grabbing a better 990FX board for better overclocking gains on a 6300.

You guys do know that I posted the build that I am set on, right? It is right above these posts, just below thecaveman's post. I said I would be getting M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. If you look at the price of that build, that is about the maximum of what I can spend. Getting a 8320 or a 8350 would be breaking the bank for me. As stated before, I am not going to be overclocking for sometime and I will be sticking with the stock cooler until I feel comfortable enough to start spending money again.

I would just get the 6300, but with a custom cooler, otherwise it will be noisy. I have the same CPU and I didn't use the stock cooler at all. The temps should be ok but the noise not. Just get the cheapest cooler, maybe the cooler master hyper 212. Would be much quieter, even at stock clocks.

With a little bit of fan tweaking it's going to be ok.

Not about the CPU but that keyboard and mouse bundle is really bad. My parents also have it and it is horrible. It skips frames and is super uncomfortable.  I suggest to look at for instance the CM Storm Devastator bundle. I have it to and it so much beter.

get the FX6300 with Asus M5A97 R2.0 this a good combination. i dont realy see the point of getting the FX6350, okay its 500mhz higher clocked, but it also produces more heath and such. you can overclock the FX6300 to the speed of the FX6350 very easaly so yeah, my personal opinnion get the FX6300
