I keep getting errors with the timing of core 6 on my CPU when I overclock it and run prime95. What does that even mean, and is it an issue with the CPU, motherboard, or the overclock?
the overclock might need more voltage to be stable or not make errors
I will try more voltage.
more voltage
also what is your ht speed
Oh, I was trying for 4GHz at 200 x 20
that should be easy
i put my HT speed at 2600mhz just because, but it really dosent make much difference, you should leave your HT at 2000mhz and be able to hit 4ghz at not much above stock voltage, mabye 1.35 volts

I am totally lost as what HT is then.
Hypertransport speed
its the speed at which your CPU northbridge and Motherboard Northbridge communicate, on Phenom and Athlon processors it made a lot of difference, but on bulldozer and piledriver it makes next to no difference
Oh, my motherboards HT is 2400MHz, and HT 3.0 tech with it. I'm using a Asrock 970 extreme 3, and have kept that the same
lower the motherboard ht speed to 2000, and set the on chip nb speed to 2000 @ 1.2v
I do not have any issues when I have it set to a 3.8 OC, so I am sure it's the voltage...but I will tweak the NB and HT speeds.
you wont see any effects on things limiting your overclock besides voltage until you go to 4.2ghz or more
It's totally good to know more advance stuff now, rather than try to learn it when I push my CPU in a few months. Right after I get a fancy cooling system set up
What is the max temp for the 6300?
around 85c
WHAAA! That is intense and I can totally push it harder now. Thank you :) I thought it was around 70c
85c is the temp at which damage will occur, i still would not want to leave it at 70c or more for extended periods of time even though it probably wont hurt it
Phosgene not being rude but your giving some wrong information about HT. It does make a big differnce in some cases.
You need to increase your voltage at times to increase the speed. Secondly as your just new to overclock dont play with the HT speed yet, just try and get a stabe overclock for now. Lastly how long are you running prime95?
not for BD/PD CPUs
for phenoms mabye, but for piledriver and bulldozer you will see less than a 1% difference in performance between HT of 2000 and 2600
pic related is from a FX-8150 and HT speed at various settings and makes less than a 0.5% difference actually
My issuse was with the rounding. To correct my comment about timing, and my stress test failed. :( at 4.0 after 30 minutes for core 6. Just that one, and it keeps happening when I push things too hard. Could that be a faulty core?
