Fx 4300 recording

So my epic grandfather(he is a pc nerd too) dicided to get me a bunch of computer hardware. He is awesome! So because we found it on sale for $90, we decided for the FX 4300. I was wondering on the gameplay recording ability of this little cpu (Radeon 7770) for games like crysis 1&2, minecraft, far cry 3, and practically every source game. My resoloution is 1440x900 but will be recording at 720p for youtube convinionce. I would also like some software recomendations for recording gameplay and some free/ low cost editing software.

Get Dxtory for recording. If you can't buy it or crack it get OBS. Use the lagarith lossless codec. VirtualDub is an open-source video editing program that should be just fine for YouTube gameplay videos.

VirtualDub is for dvix/avi encoding anless you know how to write scripts to inport AVC files megui is a free open source video editing program/rendering program for all kinds of files http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/

Thanks for the responses! I think I will use dxtory or msi afterburner, depending on which has a lower performance hit mainly. I will try megui like you recomended. One question. I have an extra 500gb 5400 rpm hdd. Will it be good enough for recording on?

Cap your recording down to 30fps @ 720p or 1080p you will be fine recording to a secondery drive

Alrighty. Thanks for the help!
