i have one question for this build. Can I save myself some money and keep my 600 watt power supply?

go for the evga supernova 650W. Also try and get a GTX 970, it minorly outperforms the 290X

Since it looks like you have the need for speed, Get a better cpu cooler. I personally would do at least a 240 280 aio or air cool with noctua or phanteks.
