I am starting a new gaming computer build because the old hand-me-down computer I got from a friend is just running into too many problems for me to deal with, to the point where the computer doesn't even turn on any more. (meaning the light of the computer is on but nothing shows up on screen, even with video card fan working) And because it was super slow to begin with and not performing to my standards. So I decided to build a new ultimate gaming PC. One that can run:
-1080p games at ultra or best settings at high fps (pref above 60 if possible so there are no lags)
-faster computer when it comes to opening files and having more tabs open without slowing down the computer
-looks awesome and quiet
-overclocking is an ideal goal with build
-this computer is solely for gaming, movies, web browsing (basically an xbox but like 1000x better lol)
-Might shoot for 4k gaming stuff in the future as well don't really know yet but thats still a long time away from now
- Are any of these parts not meeting price to performance ratios?
-Are any of these parts overkill or totally unnecessary?
-Which case is good for going to college with and thats quiet? (My choices Define R4, NZXT H440, and Enthoo Pro) (Enthoo Pro my favorite but seems to big for college and for transportation)
-Can my old CX500 corsair power supply run all these parts? (Taking into consideration of overclocking some of these parts)
Lastly Give me your opinions on what parts you would change that you think would be good to change or parts you recommend using instead. Need help choosing between the three cases too that would be a huge help. Thanks for your help y'all
There is no such thing as future proof, Components gets outdated all the time.
Yes these components are a bit overkill
and yes Price to Performance is not even close here.
If you care about price to performance you are choosing the wrong GPU. the 780Ti is the best GPU you can get right now, nothing wrong with wanting it but its $700. AMD's R9-290 is a 1080p Monster and a 1440p Beast and it's $420. similarly you can get impeccable performance with a GTX 780 and it's $500. AMD is King in the Price to Performance Department when it comes to Everything Even CPU's but they are really don't have anything that can compete with Intel right about now. your sole purpose is gaming and School work from what i'm reading. you don't really need an i7 for that you can save money and grab an i5 4690k. if i were you i would choose an mATX board if you want a small monster form-factor.
If I were to advise you on some things change the i7 for an i5, and Grab the GTX 780 or R9-290, their performance are similar they beat each other in the different games but overall the performance is next to identical. also consider an mATX or ITX board and Case. My Recommendation for mATX a SIlverstone FT03. its a Small mATX case and its one of my personal favorites my build is in one of these babies., also i think you will find it aesthetically pleasing. heres a picture to give you an idea of how your build will look inside.
Is this new one better? I edited a bit but I do actually like the motherboard a lot and its aesthetically pleasing so why not lol. And in ur opinion which is a better case the NZXT H440 or the fractical design r4?
