FSP500-50FDB fan mod

I swapped an MGA4012WB-O15 fan (40x15mm) for a WINNSINN 4015 fan. The sound is much improved.

I am hoping the 9.8CFM of the WINNSINN fan is enough. I couldn’t find any specs online for the MGA fan.

If you have any suggestions, let me know!

If you run the PSU at low wattage that new fan is probably fine, however that Winsinn fan produces less than half the CFM of the Protechnic at significantly less pressure so it won’t cool as good.

Do you have specs on the MGA fan? I’d love to find a replacement with close to the same CFM…

Usually Sunon has pretty good Maglev small fans that work really well. Look into them and see if there’s one that matches the specs of the Protechnic you replaced (I think twinsavage just googled the part number for specs).

you are correct

Thank you for posting the link! Here are some additional screenshots in case that link dies.

It appears that the HL8 actually ships with an FSP500-50FDB flex PSU, but the unit is noticeably quieter…quieter than I have ever heard the unit that I have with the original fan…See NASCompares video on this:

The plot thickens.

I’ve got the 300 watt flexguru PSU and it is super quiet; I wonder if FSP was sharing the same fans between the different model wattages at some point.
