What type of squash is that? I want to make the recipe, but I'm unsure of if it works with other types or only that one.

If I'm not mistaken,it is a carnival squash.The recipe being simple and limited in ingredients should work with other types of squash.Like with any food it is a bit difficult to predict the end result satisfaction.Some people will not like certain foods.So it can be that you won't like that squash or any squash in general no matter the variety or method of cooking.The best you can do is to try it.They are generally pretty inexpensive and easy to cook.
