Hey there,
Friend recently asked me to build him 3D modeling for 1200 €, which basically translates to 1200 $. He plans on running it for long periods of time, which is to be expected, so I didn't even try to save on cooling.
When asked what software he will be using he posted me this list: Catia, Keyshot, Photoshop, Corel, InDesign, Autocad, Cinema, V ray. So I went out, did a little bit of research and came up with this rig:
- CPU Intel Xeon E3-1246 v3 295,09 EUR
- Cooler NOCTUA NH-U12S 58,73 EUR
- MB ASUS GRYPHON Z97 ARMOR EDITION 162,46 EUR
- GPU HP Quadro K2200 4GB, J3G88AA 375,16 EUR
- RAM HP DDR3 16GB 1600MHz ECC Reg A2Z52AA 134,39 EUR
- SSD Samsung 850 Pro 128GB 105,58 EUR
- HDD Seagate Desktop SSHD 2000GB 115,70 EUR
- Case Fractal Design Define R5 Black 108,67 EUR
- FAN NOCTUA NF-P14s redux 1200 PWM 13,38 EUR
- PSU Bq Quiet! Straightpower 500W 86,49 EUR
Which unfortunately adds up to 1455,65 €. So I went and tried to meet the price tag and came up with this:
- CPU Intel Core i5-4690 229,10 EUR
- Cooler NOCTUA NH-U12S 58,73 EUR
- MB ASUS GRYPHON Z97 ARMOR EDITION 162,46 EUR
- GPU ASUS STRIX-GTX960-DC2OC-2GD5 234,90 EUR
- RAM Kingston 16GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX134,39 EUR
- SSD Samsung 850 EVO 120GB 74,22 EUR
- HDD Western Digital AV Green Power 2000GB 90,14 EUR
- Case Fractal Design Define R5 Black 108,67 EUR
- FAN NOCTUA NF-P14s redux 1200 PWM 13,38 EUR
- PSU Bq Quiet! Straightpower 500W 86,49 EUR
This one adds up to 1195,68 €, great! The problem is I don't really know, how well the Core i5 and GTX760 will be able to cope with these programs? Is it any good for this software? Should I drop the quadro from first build and just go for more RAM? I don't even work with these programs, so I have no idea, outside of the little research I did. So I figured out I'll go out and ask you guys for advice. And if by any chance you are from Slovakia, that would be great, just post me direct link to the stuff.
Thanks in advance.
