I dont know what to do, UEFI is registering everything as it should, I can move around without a problem, but as soon as I try to install something, the computer freezes randomly. When it does, it restarts after about half an hour or I have to restart it manually. It was happening at random stages of windows installation so I tried different versions, installing from usb and cd, then it happened even before installation started...
I have MSI H97 PC mate motherboard
I have also read somewhere that the RAM memory could be the issue, so I tried replugging it but it didnt help. I have 3x2gb of RAM. The motherboard however is only 2 or 4 channel, could that be the issue?
Download and install UBCD on a usb stick and run memtest. It also would not hurt to check your hard disk for faults by peeking at the SMART info. Idk if its related but make sure your 2 sticks are in a single channel. http://puu.sh/9X1qy/0b44be5467.jpg pick a color and populate those two.
I have made a mistake and already corrected it, its actualy 3x2 gb of ram so thats why I was asking about those channels. Since then I did try the Memtest, it passed which is weird because from what i have gathered, it probably is fault of the RAM. I am now trying only two or one RAM sticks....
So, I have tried running on one stick only. The computer no longer freezes, now it randomly restarts. Just shuts down and in 5 seconds powers on. I checked every plug, I reapplied thermal paste, its not overheating, there is enough power.I guess the motherboard is just faulty....
