I have found a few 4 bay RAID designed for AV Racks but am having a tough time finding a short enclosure that will let me plug in 8’ish 3.5" drives and an hba to so that I can plug it into a small 1u itx server that is also on the rack for freenas/zfs.

I don’t think eight 3.5" HDDs would fit into a 1U case. 
the most I’ve ever seen for full size drives in 1u was i think, 4 on the front and 2 internal on a short enclosure
Sorry if I was unclear… I have a couple of 1u itx servers. I am looking for a jbod enclosure/disk shelf that is short and 2u that I can plug into my 1u itx server with a cable. sas2, esata, something that lets the server see the disks individually so that I can run freenas/zfs kind of thing…
