Meant to make a thread for it earlier but forgot.
I liked it. For a free movie, it was great xD
Worth the watch
I wen't in knowing nothing about it. And I was kind if disappointed for what I got. I was hoping Valves point of view on Free 2 Play business model and how they used that in games and how it has changed. Game development and business stuff.
Instead I got a move about DOTA2 and how it is e-sports. Still a good documentary and worth a watch.
It was alright. Nothing earth shattering, but still watchable and somewhat interesting. It was a lot like another docu I watched a while back on e-sports... I can't remember the name for the life of me though. I believe it was about SC2. It (Free 2 Play) was also a bit like FRAG, but more well made, a narrower focus and less talk of the darker side of things (for obvious reasons).
Anyway, I enjoyed it more or less.
For a free movie it was pretty good. I'm not really fussed about esports though, so I never really felt too engaged. I didn't find the people involved to be particularly interesting either, so I never really felt any sense of narrative other than "I want to win at DOTA 2". Whilst on the topic though, I loved 'Indie Game: The Movie' and have watched it a few times. If anyone has any other recommendations for other video game docs I'd love to hear them.
