after leaving os x, im looking for a good free anti virus, much like avg WAS. now i checked it out and it seems to be a bunch of crap spyware and malware.
can some one point me in the right direction?
also what would be a good monitor for my cpu and such? ex. cpuid

also, best antivirus is simply not being a dumbass about what you dl.
Basically not being stupid and downloading somthing like "Maplestory NX Generator 2012, 100% LEGIT guanerenteed best game cheat".
I use MSE for personal use, but i normally recommend avast to friends, if they want to pay for something i recommend nod32. Anything that's not norton/avg/macafee will basically do the job. Doesn't hurt to have malwarebytes installed, or spybot for that matter.
I used to recommend AVG, but it's been garbage lately. Avast is good. Pretty much anything with good VB marks will cure your ails, but in the end it's down to personal choice. http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archive/summary

Microsoft Security Essentials and ocassionaly running malware bytes.
I use Avast! for antivirus and HWMonitor for monitoring temps/voltages/fan speeds.
