Dear Logan, Wendell, and Quain,

I've been in the military for just shy of six years and I am, thankfully, getting out. Technically I'm being medically discharged due to an accumulation of injuries suffered both overseas and in training. My question is "what now?". The only jobs in the civilian world I have training and qualifications for I find ethically objectionable and I would be physically unable to perform. Thankfully I will receive my full education benefits but I don't know what education to pursue. Frankly I'm on the same page as you as far as being against the notion that everyone needs a degree just because and I perform poorly in the average three-four hour a week each class setting but on the other hand I would feel like a total shit if I didn't take advantage of education that others put themselves into mountains of debt to receive. Any suggestions or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

Ps. I hate math

Additional note: I'm somewhat financially secure already. I am co-owner of a small animation studio/production company (COUGH *editing* COUGH) and have various investments that cover a comfortable cost of living so whatever I pursue will be utilized for non-profit or volunteer work.

Since you already have the requisite skills to make a good living, perhaps something in the liberal arts?

How about history, since it sounds like you've lived some of it.  Good luck!

Thanks but not quite right for me. I have no desire to pursue any sort of liberal arts degree neither would I be able to suffer through four plus years of education where you just sit in a classroom receiving the same lecture that has been given for decades in the hopes to write a book regurgitating the same information. I want to pursue an education that can I can use to help spread technology in a way that can better the lives of people. Networking, alternative energy, improved recycling methods, etc. Perhaps a business degree, if my time in the military has taught me anything it's that I'm very good at telling other people what to do and that can be a valuable asset.
