So, I'm planning on buying a new GPU tomorrow as my 290X dumps waay too much heat into my case and room, and im starting to want more performance since recently switching to 1440p.
On Overclockers at the moment, I can get the EVGA Superclocked 980ti for 341GBP Orrrr, the Founders 1070 for 389GBP
Anyone out there got either of these cards and can guide to either one? Whats the thermals and noise like on the founders card?
Have looked at benchmarks and they appear to be pretty much the same performance level
Dont buy a Founders card. Your paying a premium for a stock card. Wait for an aftermarket cooler. the founders cards cant maintain their boost clocks because of heat.
With the founders 1070 you can have either cool and loud or quiet and hot. At normal fan speeds they hit 80s.
The EVGA card will be cooler. So if it is heat you are replacing your card for I would say the 980ti, or wait for aftermarket coolers on the 1070.
Edit: Just as a by the way @giulianno_d The nVidia card completely disable async at the driver level when Time Spy starts. They don't have async, at least not for that test. Unless they updated something.
Oh yeah they still do really well in those tests, just not sure if the performance would go up or down at them moment if it was allowed to run async. The skeptic in me syas if they are disabling it it does not work well.
This all blew up a wekk or so ago when people were calling future mark out for being nVidia bias. They just said that nVidia disable it and can deal with the workload better when it is doing things how it likes.
