Found a laptop, is it good?

EDIT: I am most likely no longer going to get that HP laptop down there, I found this MSI laptop (see in comments) which has the same GPU (740m). Should I go with that one?

I'm used to looking at desktop PC specs, I get confused when I see all of these wierd CPU's and stuff on laptops. I need a laptop that can play my whole steam library (most demanding game being GTA 4. I hope to play Battlefield 4 on it also.

So I found this laptop from a local Bestbuy, http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/hewlett-packard-hp-envy-15-6-laptop-silver-intel-core-i5-3230m-1tb-hdd-8gb-ram-windows-8-15-j058ca/10255967.aspx?path=84023d299dc98cdd0e7ecfc5dcb804aben02

The GPU is the Gefore 740M, can that run the games in my steam library?

Thanks

Specs are:

hp has heating issues. get an msi gaming laptop, with an apu and 8970

Forgot to mention, $800 is my maximum before taxes.

I'll go take a look at MSI laptops

I took a look at MSI gaming laptops and the cheapest is $1000. So MSI gaming laptops arent an option

buy this laptop from hp it has better graphic performence and rest of the specks are same excpt its an amd apu laptop

i prefer hp as it has better audio due to beats audio solution

it does't run hot

in your price range and better battery life due to hybrid crossfire so you can switch between onbord gpu(for light gaming and battery saving) and discreet gpu or both together on(when running heavy games).

dont think much go for it....

beat isnt an audio solution its a EQ they reduce the audio quality to SHIT and say that beats fixes it by putting it back to regular settings. They do overheat, Have Shitty build quality and so much bloatware. Heres a MSI computer http://www.msimobile.com/level3_productpage.aspx?cid=100&id=407 its 799$

Do not get a HP they have horrible build quality and lots of bloatware. I can speak myself because i have one, i hate it.

STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM HP ENVY!!!!

I work at my high school and last year we ordered 10 new ones for some teachers.

8/10 of them had display input issues

3/10 of the hinges went bad

other than that they pretty sexy, They use that to lure you in.

HP has a bad history with manufacting errors and over heating

AMEN to that!

My dad owns two HP HDX laptops (15in and 17in) Both run idle @ 60C.

-funny the HDX series was discontinued due to heat issues.

I'm going to be reapplying the thermal paste this weekend to see if anything happens :/

I'll probably make another blog post about it.

asus also makes good laptops, look at their n-series

i have an hp pavilion that i'm quite happy with, it get's hot, but nothing crasy when you consider it has the best apu they could've jamed in it at the time, as for build quality you could beat someone to death with the thing and not put a scratch on it, beats is absolutly horrid but you can use the equilizer to turn is to back to not-godawful

only problem (if you can call it that) is it weighs like 5 lbs and doesn't have great batter life

then go for a similar laptop from lenovo it has same price and same features.they have one of the best build quality.

Lenovo Essential G505s (59-380146)

Thanks for warning me about HP, never had any HP laptops.

I was looking at MSI laptops and I found one for $799.99, it had very simular specs to that HP laptop I found. Same GPU (740m) and I think it had an AMD CPU.

It's not on the website so I can't really show you. Should I go with that?

Yes MSI is amazing. They make awesome laptops.

Do you think that the 740m can run my steam library?

GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Found this beast, made by Lenovo! Better GPU also, same price!

Is this good?

I've had two HP laptops and between the 2 had to replace the wifi 3 times and the motherboards 7 times in 3 years. And yes that last one good. It should play everything in your steam list on high to ultra high.

Just realised it's $1.3k with some coupon... I have terrible luck with coupons, especially if it's gonna "save" me $500.

I'm most likely going to go with the MSI laptop.
