So this is what I've come up with so far as a redesign for this forum. No where near completed, not even sure if I should be posting this here.

I find it a little bit "hard" to separate the sections. Everything seems a bit too simplistic and flows into each other.
Perhaps put something like a rounded gray box behind each category?
