For Wendell - Laptop resolution

Dear Wendell, would you please elaborate on your hatred of 1366x768 resolution? I know more is better until you can not see anything on the screen any more but why is it that you hate it so much, want it to die and have the person who invented it self immolate? surely a lower resolution would cause you to wish the same?

thank you

Not Wendell but going to reply on why a lot of people hates it (not only Wendell)

and the reason is simple.. when comparing the way screen resolutions were going up in the last years the 1360x768 resolution is very low and it was rapidly adopted by computer companies because that way they could offer a 16:9 screen (so it was the same aspect ratio of TVs) on the cheap.. the problem you see is that the resolution is crap, very low, even tablets have higher resolutions, and you are getting ripped by computer companies putting it in every model just because its cheap and the price of said laptops hasn't drop accordingly, they just cost the same as their predecessors but with a very low resolution when you compare it to what was available before while making anything higher "premium".

tl;dr: it is a low as hell resolution and it should be limited to your sub $300 notebook instead you are getting ripped.

Because it's a terrible ratio. I can view text much better on a 1024x768 than on a typical 1366x768. I'm sorry but that's the way it is. Also, even 1280x800, which is pretty bad, is better. It's all about the aspect ratio, and what you do with the screen. I have a 1680x1050 and have used 1920x1200 in the past on a 15" laptop and it's pretty impressive if it's a good quality IPS screen. That's why apple's are so sought out for video editing. However, text becomes a nuissance to read on anything larger than 1680x1050 (depending on eyesight). You can always increase DPI and have a better resolution but the same size on everything.
