I need help with this (really) can anyone help, I need to get floppy installed windows so I can upgrade through all the OS's in between up to XP, I've done from 95 to XP but I had someone install 95 on it for me, network boot PXE is also an option, but no cd drive and 2.5 IDE pins are different from desktop ones so no copying files straight to the HDD, no native USB boot either, I'm also open to installing mint if I could
im not sure what youa re asking
May I ask why the hell would you want that :p
lol what the hell are u installing this on? and Im not sure, but win95 most likely wont fit on a floppy, and I kno XP definantly wont

That's why you had to boot Windows 95 from multiple floppy disks.
Windows 95 Can Be Installed From Floppy Disks, it comes as a set of 22 images.
Windows 95 can not be directly upgraded to Windows XP, only Window 98, 2000, ME, and NT.
Even then, you'll be upgrading a FAT file system, which will take away all of the advanced features of Windows, resulting in your need to convert the OS anyway.

could have sworn it came on a cd, but then again I was a little kid when ppl still used that shit.
we put xp on a pentium 3 running at 450mhz with 256 mb of ram..... we use it at school for a ftp server.... it runs better than some of the school computers actually....
not saying you shouldn't do it.... but if you dont have a cd drive that works, thats going to be very hard.....

I remember having a windows 95 cd around. I didn't keep the key so I could not have used it anyways. Not that I knew how to install an OS back then.
Also, old computers make for good simple services like FTPs, NAS, (i think)firewalls, and (I think) DNS servers. If I'm not mistaken they have an old archaic pentium I PC at college that actually does the DNS stuff for all their network. I saw the physical thing and it was a beige case with a very old style. I'm not exactly sure if it was a dns but the person in charge of the campus' network said it only received text and returned something, sounds like dns to me. So yeah, that kind of stuff requires very little processing power. The moment I get the pieces to revive some of the old computers around here I plan on making a NAS with them or a Media Server.
for my laptop that has a mobile pentium III (1GHz, 512KB L2) which is pretty beefy for a PIII and 512MB of pc133, it has no CD rom drive, its only viable boot options are PXE network boot, HDD, and Floppy, there is no CD drive, no USB will not boot because of the limited bios options of 1999, even with its DX6 intel GPU it can still play audio surf (@640x480, medium @45FPS) and I have no spare money to spend on a new laptop, I've got a shit ton of other things to pay for before that, also its a toughbook so its damn near indestructible and triples as a club and small bullet proof shield, currently it has a bogged down XP SP3, and is in dire need of a fresh install of something whether it be mint or xp
you can get a used netbook for like 100 bucks. or even an older p4 laptop for under 100
I don't have any money, I said it like twice, I have to pay for my dads experimental spinal surgery, pay the bills and credit card debt they have while he's off work, I need to build my local church a $500 projection PC that won't need to be upgraded for the life of the parts since they payed my $500 electric bill a while back, I need to make sure my best friend doesn't go homeless or with out power, I need to build my parents a computer, I promised to buy hopkillers PC a while back before I got a metric-shit-ton of finacle shit thrown on my shoulders, I need to build my aunt a computer because her Pentium I was struggling to run windows 95,
I. HAVE. NO. MONEY.
besides learning new things is good, even if its about old as hell shit
oh yeah the college debt I'll to start paying on since I'm taking a year off to pay bills and study up to clep out of remedial classes

I guessing you probably had the option of getting either a few CDs or some floppy disks in order to boot Windows 95. I definitely know that Windows 95 came on floppy disks though because I remember my dad booting it up when I was a little kid.
yeah I had 95 on it but I didn't do it myself, I believe he uses floppies but I can't find it anywhere on the internet and was looking for any options even if its not a floppy install
This is Gigabuster I just forgot to log out savage
