Flashing Marshmallow on a Tab S 10.1?

So I have never rooted or flashed a different ROM on a phone or tablet.
I’ve looked at a few videos, and it seems pretty straight forward. But I am looking for others opinions here.
What are the main risks with rooting/flashing another ROM on a device?
Is it possible to put Marshmallow on this tablet? It is a Tab S 10.1 with Cellular Data.
Any information is helpful.

There's tons of information out there. Just do a google search there's probably people whom already done it or have a custom rom for it.
