Fixing up a limited Thinkpad

Sup guys, I was given a not to old (maybe 2007-2008) Lenovo Thinkpad R61. This thing is very limited in specs, I believe it has Intel core duo 2.0ghz, 80gb 5400 hdd, no dedicated graphics, and a fried 6cell battery which gets like 40mins not plugged in. I was thinking of fixing this thing up to being my little walk around laptop, so what do you guys think I should do to it? I was thinking of getting a 9cell battery, a 120gb ssd, a second hdd slip in (to put in a broken connector external 2.5 hdd), and dual booting it with crunchbang and W7.

I'm still carrying my faithful x200s around, with 6 gigs of ram and a 256 gig ssd it suits my needs just fine. The 9-cell is giving a tad over 7 hours of web surfing in linux.

Before I make a seperate thread for this, I have a similar idea: I can probably get my hands on a T500 with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz) with integrated graphics and 4GB of RAM. I also thought about getting an SSD. Is that worth it for office and watching a few videos here and there? I'd have to run Windows 7 on it for now though.
