Fix Java update crap

Being offered bull shit 3rd party crap whilst trying to update stuff is annoying and i expect better from oracle.

Especially bad if you have a non tech savy person sharing the computer (my partner) who might just click everything without thinking. Here's how to cut the crap.

1: Search java and select configure Java.

2: Navigate to the advanced tab and select the option to suppress sponsor offers when installing or updating.

3: Enjoy adfree updating.

Step 4: Install Linux ;)

In our work we are supposed to install java on new laptops for our clients. Is it necessary to have it because all they do is browse the web, send emails with outlook and use Word, Excel, Powerpoint

It's not necessary to separately install java if they only do that. It's even better not to install java then because last time i check it was filled with holes.

PS: Step 4 should be step 1. :p

Why would they do that?!

Because they (my co-workers) think they are smart when they are not. Which reminds me I need to ask question about open source.

Ha @GerkinYaGerkin beat me to step 4 as those offers are non existent on Linux.

What they posted is the correct solution though since unfortunately openjdk isn't easily available on windows.

@GerkinYaGerkin its about on par for oracle to me xD

Oracle is doing this for a while allready.

yeah makes you miss the good old days with SUN when java was the dream of every programmer. It's still good but i just don't trust that Oracle...

A lot of these businesses rely on this kind of marketing. It keeps java free. Really not hard to click no

Oracle rely on cloud computing and there enterprise software. There CEO builded his own samurai home. If they just kept the things going on like SUN used to do everyone would love them and they didn't have to do these tricks to get some cash.
