This is my first post however I have been watching the videos and lurking on the forum for some time. I built my first pc about a year ago and it has been great however as my needs have advanced (I do a lot of 3d modeling and rendering) I have begun experiencing some big slowdowns. The graphics card I have works fine for the small amount of gaming I do. My slowdowns happen in the Solidworks and Keyshot viewports.
OK so my question is basically what should I buy, or what are some good areas to look at for improving this computer? I have looked at many things including workstation graphics, a new mobo ect. however im just not sure what would provide the best performance for my use.
also if you do upgrade the GPU, to always ensure that your PSU will have enough headroom to run it in the system. you dont want to be running your PSU at max and you dont want to get stuck with a GPU you cant power.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with workstation graphics and if it's worth it for this type of program. The problem I'm experiencing is a huge slowdown of the viewport in Solidworks, I've researched quite a bit but its hard to tell if only the workstation graphics would fix this or if that's just propaganda. if i did get a workstation card it would have to be low end.
