Hi guys,
I didn't really know where to post this so if this is out of place, Sorry. if there is a way to move this post to somewhere it fits, please point me the right way
First time poster & first time builder.
After years of playing games on consoles & doing my work (graphic design) on a old laptop that barely worked I took the plunge & grab all the parts needed to get me going.
Thanks to the guys at tek syndicate the build process went quite smooth & everything seemed to go together fine. Excellent! Now I got a sweet PC.
Well, hear is the thing. It will boot up, I get the bios & all seems ok. Everything is recognised, then about a minute or so in I can hear something ramp up & it will black screen. After shoving me head in to hear it sounds like the GPU fans are going at max speed.
What do I do? I've had it apart a few times now & everything looks good but still no joy :(
Can anyone help me with this, specs are below
Asus x99-m ws
I7 5820k
Asus 960 strix (a ti over card until pascal)
Corsair lpx 4x8 32gb
Corsair h115i
Samsung 950 pro
Corsair rm750i
It sounds like it might be a faulty gpu have you tried taking the gpu out and just running the system with on board graphics to see if everything else if functional.
return it and get a 280/390. better dx12 and vulcan support.
It's x99 so no on board graphics
let me rephrase. return your gpu and get a 280 or 390. the 280 is cheaper and will have around the same performance. and better in dx12/vulcan games. the 390 will just blow the 960 out of the water for about 100 more.
it sounds like your problem is your gpu. as you need to replace it anyways you should just replace it with a better one. red team is beating green atm, green just has better marketing.

After thinking on it & reading your replys I kinda did answer my own question lol. But like I said. First time builder so needed to hear it from someone else lolol.
I'll just get a replacement from Amazon. It was only something to get me started knowing both companies are releasing new card series soon.
Thank you for the advice. I'll update this if anything changes.
I was enjoying myself until the green team came in at the last minute & cock blocked me lol
Before returning the card did you try to plug it in a different PCI express connector and did you verify that you plugged correctly the 12V power into the card? I don't want to treat you like a stupid person, just suggesting the basic diagnostic moves to do, in my opinion.
It was defo plugged in right. I tryed both 6 pin cables. I only tryed the top pcie tho. Everything was new, when In the bios everything showed up fine. Even the nvme drive. & everything was stable ie fans, temps & no q-codes popping up.
Just same thing everytime. Boot up to bios, there for about 2mins then. Black screen with GPU in "jet mode"
Ok so I just unwrapped the card again, popped it in the second x16 slot & still no luck. So I'll just wait for the carrier & get it replaced. Thanks for trying dude
So I got my replacement gpu today & it was that causing the problems. 1 DOA piece out of 10 ain't bad. Alls cool now. Thanks again to those of you that helped 😃
