Hello, so i have recently been getting more and more into PC gaming. I have been playing dayZ on my laptop. My laptop has been very inadequate. So now i have been wanting to build a desktop computer. But i do not know where to get started with choosing parts. So my question is can someoone give me a list of parts that would work well and make for a good gaming computer? My budget is between $900 - $1000. I do also plan on playing many other games besides dayZ.
With 900$ you can get a great rig. Do you have any specific hardware preferences? There's often rivalry between Intel and AMD, nVidia and AMD and such...
No, I do not have any specific preferences.

captain pip's looks good to me. If u want though, you get get a slightly bigger ssd like 128GB instead of the 64 listed and use it to install a few games you use often.
Otherwise, looks great
Meh, may as well get the 8320 and OC it.

Extreme overclocking on a Asrock bord lols :)
if i may advice then please buy a Asus sabbertooth or a asus M5A99FX pro R2.0.
if you plan to do some overclocking
Why do you think the brand matters for overclocking when what really matters is the number and quality of the power phases. Also, ASRock has a very similar digi-power power phase VRM to Asus because, guess what, they used to be part of the same company. Did anyone else find this ironic? Also, ASRock Extreme9 990FX is one of the best values for an enthusiast grade motherboard you can have.
What about using the i5-3570k? Would it be better to use?
with eye to the future i realy just say no
the i5 3570K is a quadcore cpu that does not have Hyper trading. in the future games gonne be optimized for more then 4 cores, then you just have a problem with playing them.
the i7 3770k does have hyper trading, but in my eye is very much to expensive.
so realy go for a AMD FX6300 or if you can afford it a FX8350
So does this seem good now? I made some tweaks to the build following the posts.

you still can get it under 1000 if you chance the motherboard, to a Asus M5A99FX pro r2.0
