First time build - help with parts!

Hey guys. I'm looking at building a computer but have no idea where to really start looking - I havent kept up to date with PC gear since the 8800gtx and the Q6600 were top dogs...

My first struggle is that I live in New Zealand and everything is way overpriced here so if anyone knows any good Aus or US sites that ship internationally that would be great. I would spend around $1500 usd/aud. I will mainly be gaming... mostly dota 2 but I also have bf3 sitting here waiting to be played.

Any suggestions would be great as I have no idea where to start looking or what to start looking at... Thanks in advance

Local here. AFAIK, Newegg currently doesn't do international shipping. Your best bet is Amazon, as some sellers from there will ship outside the US. But further digging towards some other sites, there's more that will do international shipping.

I'd probably look at Amazon. But I'd expect it to be a pain in the butt to get together the parts you want through there.

I don't know why but for some reason PC/Electronics seems to be a pain in the ass to get from abroad.

Anyway, I'll try to tinker together something.

I didn't really check if any of these ship inernationally or not, but this should AFAIK be a pretty badass setup. Obviously missing a case, monitor, KBD&mouse... etc.You could probably save some money on the Motherboard, processor, maybe get a radeon card instead of an nvidia card(although BF3 tends to like Nvidia)..

G'day mate, you could try PC Case Gear (http://pccasegear.com/). I reckon it would be possible for you to call them up and arrange shipping across the pond, although it could cost quite a bit ($250-400)  But the website is very trustworthy and I highly reccomend it, its the best I've found.

get the parts on newegg, have them sent to someone u know in the US and pay them to ship the parts to u,...... lol

Try this,

Overall, pretty goood builds!

Thanks for your suggestions. got everything sussed besides a mobo and a case. also noob question but what is an ssd for? When I was last looking at parts that never existed I think lol.

SSDs are like hard drives but they are SUPER FAST, if you knew what they were but not why he had it in ther its because you can use them as a cache to make you HDD both large in file space but fast like a SSD too

Question about the gpu. the 670gtx looks better bang for buck, doing some research it only plays like 5% worse than the 680gtx in bf3...

My question is which brand? I'll be getting an asus board so would it be good to get the asus card? I know EVGA have out standing customer service but it only has1 fan where as the asus has 2? Help please

go with asus, the evga one is probably a reference card, which means it gets a bit warmer, also asus probably has digiVRMs on it
