First Rendering/Gaming Pc Build

Basic Info

  • Budget - $2500
  • Live in Singapore and I use SGD.
  • Rendering/Gaming is my build type.
  • Don't intend to overclock but would like to learn to get a stable overclock and just leave it as it is.
  • Watercooling is an option but it seems like a hassle.
  • I have an OS ready for new system, no need to buy.

Game Preference

  • 1920x1080 high-ultra is preferable but its not really a big deal.
  • No specific game titles at the moment but anything that can handle modern games.

Render Preference

  • Maya, Nuke, Houdini. (VRay,Arnold). Avid/Premiere Pro.
  • I render sequences and do simulations for effects as well.

Peripherals

  • Prefer a 1ms/120hz monitor but having either one will do.

Other Notes:

  • Need advice on how I can further maximize my build.
  • Currently eyeing the PC Themes pricelist to build my computer.
  • Custom means I deal with 2nd hand components that are much cheaper but with the rest of the parts being retail.
  • Non Custom means completely RETAIL purchase.

This will be my first time building a computer. I want to know if 4gb vs 2gb gtx 770 is actually worth the $60+ extra. For the monitor, 1ms is preferable. I think I might have seen one under the ASUS monitors in the PC Themes price list that has one for like $289.

I need help to maximize my build and I would like to know if its well balanced.

Video ram is generally better for loading more textures in game and for working with larger video files before having to write to cache. With regards to editing is it moving towards professional or just hobbyist?

Well sort of both. I am in my final year and I have a final year project coming up. Going to be doing a bit of work on it.

Hows the build? Any monitors to recommend?
