First PC build ever! Is this a good one?

Hello everybody I am finally going to join the PC master after working a shitty minimum wage job for a while. I'm new to computers and had trouble creating a build but after researching for a while this is what I came up with. If you have any suggestions it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

It looks pretty solid though I will state an r9 390 is a bit over kill for 1080p and if you could afford to wait the new line of GPU should be coming out pretty soon. Also though cases are purely up to the owner I would go with a bit more expensive case but that’s just me. If you are on a budged I would highly suggest not splurging on a keyboard and mouse and put that money towards better components and upgrade the keyboard and mouse down the road. And don't go with an oem copy of windows because that usually locks to the motherboard.

Looks good. Maybe you can spend a little more on a better case?
This might be a personal thing, but I had bad experience with Razer synapse (their software thingy).

Ok lets see here...

  1. WAIT. The new GPUs are coming out currently and CPUs are on the horizon.

  2. Get a platform that supports DDR4 ram. DDR3 is on the way out so by getting yourself some DDR4 you'll be better prepared for the future (16GB is a great amount of RAM to make sure you have enough for a few years if you'll be using this for gaming).

  3. A good case goes a long way. The case is the most "futureproof" component of a computer as it's sole purpose is to house components (yes the front panel I/O can get dated but that's neither here nor there)

  4. Windows can be gotten a lot cheaper from Kinguin (though if possible get a really cheap retail copy because with retail you can easily migrate it when you upgrade your system).

  5. I would say skimp out on the keyboard for now in order to get better components like a case. Keyboards being labeled as "gaming" is almost as bad as getting a "gaming" router, in the end it doesn't mean a damn thing.

These are just the basic recommendations I can offer you since you didn't tell us what exactly you'll be using the computer for.

Pretty solid but the motherboard is unnecessary due to being a Z series motherboard and you can get away with a H97 chipset motherboard therefore saving you money due to being that the Xeon 1231v3 can not overclock. Other than that its pretty solid. The link above I have made adjustments that I seem best fit for you.

Tek Syndicate do not condone the sales of third party Windows keys or any other serial keys. Please take this at your own risk.

Or take the dive into Linux

I see you have been around here before your build since you got E3-1231.

Everything still looks pretty solid :)
