I built my pc on decemeber 26 at my local microcenter. i brought all my parts from there with great deals. but i was wondering if i did a good job? these are the specs to my pc.
Cpu - AMD 6300 = $130
Motherboard - AsRock 970 extreme 4 = $100 *But when brought with a cpu u save $40 so it is really $60*
SSD - Kingston Hyper X 3k 120gb = $85
HDD - Hitachi 1Tb = $60
Ram - Corsair Vengeance 8gb 1600mhz (2x4gb) = $40
PSU - Corsair Cx600w = $70 w/rebate $60
GPU - Gigabyte 660 2gb OC = $230
Case - Zalman z9 u3 ATX Mid Tower = $60 w/rebate $50
Cpu Fan - Hyper Evo 212+ = $25
Os - Windows 8 = $100
Total cost = $860 w/rebate $840
Did i do a good job for my first pc build?
Ya, looks good, though you could do a few things: 1. you can get a better drive for that price, like a WD or seagate. 2. get at least a 660ti, though take a look at 7850/7870s as well. 3. You don't really need a heatsink, you can use the Intel one, and spend on the GPU.
yea i had to make some budget cuts i had 900 dollars to spend. i do plan on upgrading the hitachi to a WD black 1tb and and for my bday i might upgrade my gpu to to 670 or 680.
So you plan on buying this, and then buying a new one? that doesn't really make sence.
What I am saying about the drives though, is that you can get a Barracuda, or Blue for about the same price. And frankly, I trust Seagate and WD more than Hitachi
i already built this but i brought the hitachi for now i plan on buying me a WD black as my main hdd and for my Bday i planing on buying me a a 670 or 680
Its a well balanced build, looks good to me. Personally, I wouldn't bother upgrading to a 670 or 680. Its 2013, new card are coming out soon from both AMD and Nvidia.
lol and thanks for the advice i will consider it.
o_O ONLY $840 with OS holy shizzle all those parts here in the UK would be well above $1100 (£700)... Here the 212 Evo is priced at $49 (£30) IMAGINE that dammin hopefully i'll be making my build soon as well but that build is excellent for a first time!
btw what does rating does Windows give your PC (if that's still included on WIN8)
my rating at base clocks was a 7.5 but with a minor overclocked i got it to a 8. the reason i got a 7.5 was because that was with ram and cpu at it stock speed i overclocked the cpu to 4.5ghz and ram to 1866 so it boosted my rating.
