First PC Build- Any suggestions?

Should I swap out the ram?

Do I need a CPU cooler for this build?

Will the case fit all of the components and maintain good airflow?

Any suggestions on what I should change would help a lot!

We can't see your build. You have to copy and paste the permalink on the left side of PC Part Picker. You can't just copy what is in the address bar. That will just link to whatever the last think that particular person built on the site.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I fixed it now

Yes it is fixed.

Okay. Let's See.

CPU: Good choice. The FX series are very good. The 8320 can easily be OCed to an 8350 or higher speeds. Very good part.

CPU cooler: I'd really recommend an aftermarket cooler. These chips get hot and the stock cooler is loud and not very efficient. Grab a Hyper 212 Evo or if you want to OC a Noctua NH-U14s or a good closed loop liquid cooler like a H100 or Kraken X60.

Motherboard: *Vomits* That motherboard is seriously terrible. It isn't rated for the power draw of the 8 Core CPUs and even lower powered chips will often stress it too much. It will throttle that CPU. Also it has a high rate of VRM failure. It may be okay for a while but will more than likely throttle your CPU and die within a short period of time. I really only recommend 990FX boards with the 8 Cores.

The Asus M5A99FX Pro/Evo is an excellent board and will be very stable and allow you to overclock. You can get these to 5Ghz on this motherboard if you get a good chip.

Memory: 8GB is fine. But you really want to get two sticks and run it in dual channel.

HDD: Fine. Although you may want to consider throwing in a cheap SSD like a Kingston V300 or something to help with boot times.

GPU: Excellent card. SHould run everything very well.

Case: Meh. It is a basic case with really not the best airflow. A FD Core 3000 or Define R4 would be better. Also the NZXT Source 210 Elite is decent as well. There are a lot of choices out there.

PSU: That PSU is way overkill. You don't need anything near 750W of power. The system will pull max around 450W. A good 600W PSU will leave you plenty of room to upgrade in the future to a higher end GPU or even another 770.

Do you really need an optical drive?

What I would do:

if your budget is 850$ tose would be pretty good specs, but the system would not be reliable. Your mobo could get fried because of poor power design. Also, getting a dualkit of ram is far better choise, if you are not adding another stick in like 2 weeks, because dualchannel memory has in theory, has double the amount of bandwith compared to singlechannel memory .I am not familiar with the case so can't say anything about that. With that cpu, i really recommend getting an aftermarket one, because the stock one will sound like a jet taking off when you launch a game...

This is what i would do with the budget if you need to purchase windows:

this is a littlebit over 850$ but would be much more reliable. Note that i wouldn't oc much with this system, that 500W will be enough for this system, but the mobo i chose is the bare minimum i would recommend to anyone doing and AM3+ builds, and i wouldn't OC cpu with it almost at all. If you are overclocking, you should be looking mobos like ASUS M5A99FX R2.0 or AsRock 99FX KILLER, wich have better power delivery for the cpu.

I hope i helped :)

This build looks amazing! I will definitely go with this build instead. Thanks for the help and clearing the mistakes I made. just one more thing I would like to ask. How to I load the OS for the first time with out a CD drive?

You can download the .iso from Microsoft then mount it to a bootable USB flash drive. Then just use the CD key that came with your disc copy of Windows. There are plenty of instructions on how to do this step by step online. Just Google it and you should be good :)

Glad to help!
