I´m a swedish guy who is building my first AMD build and my budget is on $1,470 (10,100 swedish crowns).
The build is going to be a full AMD build (CPU&GPU). I have made my own hardware list and I want to share it with you guys and want some feedback of what you think of this build and if there is something you suggest I change or add.
This is the best i could come up with and I think this could hold for some years to come. I´m going to use this PC for gaming, maybe some editing/rendering, and ofc watching alot of HD movies.
The problem I have now is the SSD & PSU.
Should I stick with 750W, or go with 850W? What´s enough for this PC?
Should I go with a 240GB SSD? (I´ve heard that lower capacity is faster)
Pls give some feedback on what you guys think and what has to be changed or added.
In fact, higher capacity SSDs are usually faster than lower capacity SSDs. The performance difference is relatively minimal, though, and you won't notice a difference in real life performance.
A quality 600w power supply will power the system with one GPU. 750-800W will be fine for two GPUs. The XFX power supply you have picked is a very nice high quality power supply. It just depends on the wattage if you want to add another GPU in the future.
Take a look as the ASRock 990FX Fatal1ty or Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0, if you don't need all the bells and whistles on the Sabertooth.
I would suggest getting a 2x8GB kit of DDR3-1866 or higher RAM if you're going to be doing video editing and rendering. The extra RAM will help a lot and the higher the clock speed, the faster the computer will render videos. The RAM brand you get doesn't really matter, as most should work the same. Heatsinks do almost nothing for RAM, and are only for looks. Find one that has a good clockspeed and capacity, and is relatively inexpensive.
I have a HyperX 3K 120GB and it works great. You should have 50-60GB leftover after you install windows and a lot of updates. I would suggest picking up a hard drive to go along with it, such as a 1TB Western Digital Blue.
I changed the PSU to a XFX ProSeries XXX Edition 650W instead of a 750w, because I´m not sure that I´ll have 2 GPUs, but does it matter or affect my PC in some way if I have 750w for now and upgrade to 2 GPUs later?
Regarding RAM, I went for Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz. That should do the job :)
Downgrade to 650w PSU and upgrade to 16GB 1866MHz Ram, increased the total price with $73, and thats nothing! :)
Something thing like the a 140mm phanteks or Noctua 14 might save you money and run alittle more silent than the h100i. You may find the need to have to purchase fans that produce less noise. Its still a solid choice tho.
The Sabertooth is a really, really nice board and is top end for the FX CPUs. However if you're not planning on putting some massive OC on this thing or won't use all the temperature gauges and the like then you can save some money by getting a M5A99FX Pro R2.0 board. It still overclocks like a beast but it doesn't have the temperature and other things that the sabertooth does so it's much less expensive for a high quality board.
1. No, it won't affect your PC's performance in any way. 750w may be a little bit quieter since the PSU is at an even lower load when compared to it's max rated load.
