First Gaming PC Build (1300-1600)

Hey everyone, this is my first ever build for a gaming PC. Below is the different specs i'm looking to use. Feel free to add any input to the build as I could use as much help as possible. I am looking to OC the CPU, and AMD has a cheaper price currently so I'm also looking to get the most out of my money spent.

Thanks all.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor  ($194.11)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X60 98.3 CFM  Liquid CPU Cooler  ($144.99)
Thermal Compound: Arctic Cooling MX-2 4g Thermal Paste  ($11.99)
Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 ATX  AM3+ Motherboard  ($179.99)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory  ($111.49)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($64.99)
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($111.99)
Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card  ($416.97)
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 (White) ATX Full Tower Case  ($290.00)
Power Supply: Cooler Master GX 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply  ($73.88)
Total: $1600.40

looks excellent. I would take a look at the phantom 630, it's $100 less than the 820, and is the same size

Looks awesome, although I cant seem to think of a good reason for needing 4 grams of thermal paste.

Yeah, that's weird. I swear I saw some 1.5g MX4 for like $4 USD just the other day but it's not there...

Edit: just checked my build at PCPP, yea it was a 4gram but now zero'd out and now from newegg for $17, pfft (It was less just a day or 2 ago).

It look good, I dont know about the case however, its kinda flashy. I'd rather go with something like the Crosair Obsidian 650D.

Also im not a big fan of water cooling, its takes up alot of space, and your going to be just fine with an air cooler.

About the thermal paste, I knew I needed some just didn't know how much lol, so I just saw the first link and clicked it...thanks for the info though! The feeback is much appreciated!

yea. some MX4 is the next best paste and cheaper than prolimatech 3 (however you spell it)

I would get a Switch 810 instead of a Phantom, and get some Promilatech PK1 instead; it is second only to a Indigo Xtreme thermal interface, but only by a few hundredths of a degree.

I Personally would feel more comfortable with a 2x8gb configuration.
If you are only going to game, then the 7970 is AWESOME! BUT if you are giong to also edit movies then i would recoment the gtx670.

Otherwise GREAT build :D

lol not sure why that is 4x4, clearly wasnt paying attention there...will have to fix that.
